    Championship Sunday at Wesleyan College

To top it all off the Championship game was OUTSTANDING between to great teams Proehlific Power of Greensboro and the 4A State Champ Greenville Rose Fall Team. Power jumps out scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning off of Ace Paul McIntosh. Rose scores single runs in the 2nd and 4th and then the battle is on with both teams playing spectacular and talking tons of smack.

Bottom of 7th in a 2-2 tie and Rose gets a baserunner on with two outs who is wild pitched to second base and then scores the winning run on the last play of the game. A short hop thru to first base skips past the first baseman giving Rose the Championship 3-2.

McIntosh goes the distance for Rose and the SS? wins the MVP tshirt.

Diesel please fill in the rest of the story.

That is kinda it in a nutshell. You gots more color in your than that, I am sure!

I would like to clarify that it is the Greenville Babe Ruth Fall Ball Team...sorry, no fancy jerseys...lol... just a tee...

One low point during the game,,,The Powers catcher appeared to hyper- extend his knee while trying to leg an excuse me hit down first. Took a few minutes to get the big fella (dude is a specimen) off the field and he was done for the game. Hope is ok... checked on him and he had it iced down, with pain and swelling in his knee. Maybe someone will give us a follow up later in the week.

I thought Paul Mac pitched a B+ game for him...lol... His A game is just plain silly (huh, Coach27)...he definately kept them guessing, while filling up the strike zone. Defense played well, with some great plays and all routine plays made solidly. Solid hitting kept Greenville going (lead off Jason Sugg <2B> had a heck of a day. He had the 2 out single, which eventually became the game winning run), but they simply left way too many runners on...and in scoring position. But they are a scrappy Fall bunch and have a lot of fun playing with each other. We saw some VERY long balls hit today, but nothing slipped out of the acreage at Weslyan.

All in all was a fun game to watch... extra innings woulda been interesting with Greenville at the top of their line up!

Good Job Stretch... on the tournament and the crew you had at the Championship Game...

It was a great weekend in Rocky Mount. RM is such a good sports town. I remember RM fans pulling hard for Greenville Rose in Zebulon this past spring and us doing the same for RM. I guess eastern NC towns like to stick together (unless we are playing each other...lol!).

Of course for me it was nice seeing the Rose kids come out on top. Most of these kids will make up the Rose varsity next spring so it is nice to see what they can do. The only players on this fall ball team that played in this tournament that saw much varsity action for Rose's 4A State Champions this past spring were pitchers Ted & Danny Deiters (pitched outstanding on Saturday) and Paul McIntosh. ECU commitment Tanner Merritt and our outstanding returning catcher Patrick Roy were playing with the Carolina Cubs this past weekend. All the starters yesterday in the championship game for our fall ball team (except for the pitcher) hardly have any Rose varsity experience.

The funniest thing about the weekend was how the other teams were making fun of Rose's uniforms. The other teams were decked out with fancy uni's. Rose players had the standard issue gray pants and a green t-shirt. Some of the Rose players had different color caps. They sure did look like a rag-tag team compared to the others. However it is not how a player looks, it is how he plays. The Rose players made us proud once again. It is all about the green shirt.

Is this the same team that plays in the GRFBL? Just curious.

    Paul McIntosh

I had never seen Paul McIntosh pitch until this past weekend in the championship game. Does not overpower anyone but just continues to retire batter after batter after batter. Great breaking ball! I only saw one or two hard hit balls against him the entire game. I wanted our guys to face him just so they would have the experience. He's bound to start getting some attention don't you guys think? It's not always about the radar gun. Even if it is DII or below someone should contact this kid. Of course at that level you have to consider your options between wanting to play baseball and academics at a bigger school.

    Yes

they know who he is. He will get the opportunity to pitch at the next level. I know he doesnt light up a radar gun. But I always thought the idea was to get guys out? And no one does it any better than Paul.

Someone is going to pull the trigger and sign this young man that I am sure of. And they are going to be very glad they did. And there are going to be alot of coaches wishing they had done it first.

    Very impressive on the mound

I was on the dish and I can tell you that Paul has a lot of confidence in his abilities and has good composure. He locates pitches very well and is very smart in choosing his pitch. He shook the catcher off quite a few times and kept the batters totally off balance. He is a pitcher which to me is better than a flame chucker!!
