That reminds me of this umpire who asked me once "What are YOU smiling at?" I told him "I'm not smiling, I've got gas!"

    GAS

Just returned to the Charlotte area today and still am dumbfounded at gas prices. At home in Iowa when I arrived a week ago gas was 3.10 and last night it was 2.61. Dropped .50 in 8 days. What is going on here is amazing. Someone is making money.

Welcome back to the Charlotte area Lee. Gas has come down some here in the last week or so. Many places has been over $4 a gallon. I never thought I would see the day that I thought $3.25 a gallon is cheap. The closer you get to the Qween City of the South the higher gas is. Lots of the money dogs live there.

Hope your wife and children are doing well. I know you will do well at Montreat. Hope I can send some talent your way. Take care.

Best prices for gas down here in Greenville/Mauldin/Simpsonville (SC) went from $3.419/gal Wednesday night to $2.999/gal Thursday AM (off the interstate), but by Friday night, not a station showing a price of $2.999 had regular to sell (though I got 91 octane for $3.139 which was cheeper than most places were advertising 87 for).

Over the weekend, noticed prices falling towards $3 from $3.299, etc on I-85 as I drove back and forth to Spartanburg. I just saw a $2.859 on my way to work this morning.

...I paid $3.49 today in Youngsville, about 15 miles northeast of Raleigh. I was in the "deli/lunch" shop of the minimart place, and I heard a guy say that in Iowa, the gas was less than $3.00.
I paid $2.89 for a fat greasy 3/4 lb. cheeseburger with mustard, ketchup, chili, onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and pickles on a steamed bun.
That lunch was worth stopping to fill up at $3.49!:35:

We're still getting ripped off. With crude oil @ $78 a barrel it should be around $2.40 a gallon

    OPEC Can %$#%$% !!!!

It's good to know that OPEC is on our side--- Excerpt out of Washington Post

The outlook for oil prices is still very much bearish as the risk of global recession _ or at least a global slowdown _ remains," said Luxton, who expects prices to drop to the $60 to $70 a barrel region next year.
He said prices may hover around the current levels until mid-November, when the OPEC meeting will be held. OPEC warned it intends to cut production to stop the decline in oil prices, but markets are uncertain how effective that will be.
