The cougars have two rushers that average over 5.5 yards a carry. And a defense that showed two weeks ago @ eb that they have the ability to shut teams down when their offense controls the clock and they stay fresh.

Is this the week the cougars coaches finally get that runing the ball is their best chance to win and come out attacking with the run game OR do they wait till the 2nd half and pass the whole 1st half and put their team behind once again? Anyone that watched the eb game(or any other this year knows what im talking ab)

The runing game makes this team go on both offense and defense when you have two backs that give you over 5 yards a carry its time to just give them the da*n ball and stop the dink and dunk screen passes to the wideouts that havent worked all year. Kyle Kinnard throws the deep ball very well pound the run and take your shots deep. As I have said all year.

This team is much better right now than their record and if they use their personel correctly they can win out and hopefully that will get them in to the playoffs.

Maverick- let me explain something further so you and other readers understand. This thread and your post is great. I love fans of HS programs. I understand the excitement and disappointment fans have in their passion for their teams.

I don't mind at all when people express their disappointment with their program or when they express their boasting of their team. That's what fans do. The only real concern are when the lines are crossed. When are they crossed? When we "call out" a player or demand a coach to be fired or go on and on how "stupid" he is.

But, it's fine to second guess. It's fine to be disappointed. And it's always great to read when someone is excited. That's what fans do. They have passion. Let's just understand how to express it....basically, no finger pointing. I hope that helps to better understand what we at TBR are looking for......oh, and if one of your players has a great game, please don't forget to post that. I'm sure he and his family would appreciate it.

That's just the way it is .........

    :47: Mave,

I am with you all the way, but braves is right as well. I mean anyone that knows anything about football and watches the Cougars week in and week out sees the same thing, and it is going to stay that way until...... so there is no need to keep talking about it even thought "WE" (knowledgeable fans) have so much passion for the game, sports, winning, and doing things the right way. And when we see things not done the right way it bothers us extremly. So basically what I am saying is I quit watching AC for those reasons you talk about on here b/c "IT" raises my blood pressure, but I wish them (AC) the best of luck for the remainder of the season!

I'm not sure, but if he is, (right or wrong) I bet he will have y'all runnin' . I really hope AC does well the rest of the year and make the playoffs. I love it when the people in Taylorsville are happy.

THIS IS THE WAY I SEE IT

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BUILD A SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM? WHEN HARPER TOOK OVER IN 2007 HE LOST A HEALTHY GROUP OF SENIORS (26), IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME WELL, 4 OF THOUGHS ATHLETES MOVED ON TO D1 PROGRAMS, 3 FOOTBALL AND 1 BASEBALL. HE INHERITED A TEAM THAT WAS YOUNG AND INEXPERIENCED AT THE VARSITY LEVEL, BUT MADE THE PLAYOFFS. WITHOUT AN OFFENSIVE LINE THAT CONTROLLED THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE, AN INEXPERIENCED RB, AND A VERY YOUNG AND INEXPERIENCED DEFENSE, NOT TO MENTION SLOW. YES,THEY HAD SOME TALENT BUT NOT ENOUGH TO WIN, COMPETE YES ! AC TEAMS WILL COMPETE BUT TO YOUNG, SLOW, AND INEXPERIENCED TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS. THIS YEAR (2008), THE TEAM SHOWED PROMISE BUT STILL YOUNG AND INEXPERIENCED AT THE VARSITY LEVEL. LET'S START WITH THE SOPHOMORE QB, NO VARSITY EXPERIENCE, LOTS OF POTENTIAL, IF HE DEVELOPS THE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES NECESSARY AND LEARNS FROM HIS EXPERIENCE ON THE VARSITY LEVEL THIS YEAR, HE WILL BE A GOOD ONE. THE 2 RB'S, THIS DUO WILL PUT UP THE NUMBERS. RECEIVERS, NOTHING LIKE AC HAS HAD IN THE PAST, (1)HASN'T PLAYED FOOTBALL SINCE MIDDLE SCHOOL. OFFENSIVE LINE, BETTER THAN LAST YEAR BUT STILL NOT OVERPOWERING. GREAT TEAMS CONTROL THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. NOT DURABLE ENOUGH TO RUN THE BALL THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME. THE DEFENSE HAS IMPROVED WEEK TO WEEK, BUT STILL ARE YOUNG, 5 OF THE 11 HAVE VARSITY EXPERIENCE. SUMMARY, THIS TEAM SHOULD BE ATLEAST 5-3, BUT PENALTIES, FUMBLES, AND GIVING UP THE BIG PLAY, AND FINISHING DRIVES, AND HATE TO SAY IT BUT I'M GOING TO, CALLS AGAINST THEM. HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOU REMEMBER A CALL GOING IN AC'S FAVOR. THIS IS FOR ALL YOU COACHING FROM THE STANDS, GET A LIFE, AND IF YOU HAVE EVER COACHED BEFORE WAS IT ALL THOUGHS GREAT CALLS YOU MADE OR WAS IT PROPER EXECUTION. WHEN AC PLAYERS BUY INTO THE TEAM BEFORE SELF CONCEPT THEY,LL WIN, UNTIL THEN GIVE UP TRYING TO FIGURE EVERYTHING OUT AND ENJOY THE GAME OR APPLY FOR THE HEAD JOB, BUT LAST I HEARD THAT POSITION WAS FILLED. HARPER HAS GOT THE PROGRAM HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, BE PATIENT AND SUPPORT YOUR TEAM....

From the mouths of babes, comes wisdom...Good points. I would add one thing and that is this, Alexander Central is hands down better than last year. Some of the expectations got ramped a bit with that 56-3 win over a very weak North Gaston team. Two brutal losses to St Stephens and Hickory were tough to recover from. This team is going to win the last three games, you can take it to the bank. The only thing I'm even close to being critical of is the team lacks a true vocal leader. That's something the coaching staff can't coach or teach. It's natural and so far one has not emerged. Let's leave the kids alone, they are busting their tails, and I for one love them.

    Go Cougars!!!!

AC should handle Freedom. Don't think they will be able to beat SC though. I would guess them to finish with 2 more wins

hey i wouldnt go as far as sayin that this years team is "hands down" better than last years..they lost 2 all conference wrs (not to mention the 2 best athletes on the team) not to mention a qb with 3 years experience 2 year starter (all confernce both)....not to mention last yr north gaston was a state runner up with one of the best an fastests qbs in the state...we also had pride an would never let our team lose to a "inferior" team like saint...im just sayin watch how you remember last years group they did more than any 1 thought they would!!! just sayin....
