Playing ABD was like watching the Aflac All American game all over again. The boys never backed down to a lineup with 5 Aflac all americans as Richie Shaffer and Jordan Hudson held them to one hit. Walks and an error hurt SCP early putting them in a 2-0 hole. With the score 2-1 and the Panthers batting in the top of the 7th ABD got 2 quick outs. Shane Basen then got an inf hit followed by Casey Gebhardts 2nd hit of the day giving the Panthers 2nd & 3rd after some aggressive baserunning. Tyler Zupcic hits a slow chopper off the plate to 3rd and Aflac All American Matt Davidson makes an ESPN highlight play for a bang bang game over play at first. Tough loss as all the Panthers needed to do was tie ABD to take control of the pool. Pretty cool that a group of kids mostly from the Charlotte Metro area can take a stacked team to the bitter end. Thats why baseball is such a great game!

    South Charlotte Panthers 6
    Central FL Renegades 1

Jordan Hudson(2inn), Joe Shealy(2inn), Jesse Brewer(2inn) and Matt Varnadoe(1inn) all throw well.

Panthers go 3-1 in pool play, but the ABD Bulldogs who they lost to yesterday 2-1 win their game today and advance to the final 16 with a 3-0-1 record. Panthers give up 7 runs in 4 games and scored 19 with every position players and pitcher on the roster playing. Great effort, great kids, great team.

Wes Hatley (South Stanley) and Danny Vilet (Charlotte Catholic/UNC Asheville) combined for a no hitter with no walks. Runner reached on dropped 3rd strike, throw down to first got by 1st baseman into right field - runner to second, pass ball - runner to third, scored on fielders choice to 2nd. O's only managed 3 hits.

    They both pitched great.
