Will there be any alternate dates for the tryout? My son would love to attend this tryout, but we already have money invested for that weekend for the showcase camp at Wingate.

They have had tryouts at SSS in Feb. last year. Several of their 2010's go to school there. Call me and I'll tell ya what I know.

    Age limitations

Does anyone know if 2013 graduates are allowed to go to this camp? If so I know of several kids that would love to tryout for this organization. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Coach Petty

Coach Petty does a great job with the Canes teams. They are always well prepared, and play hard. I have no doubt it will be a worthwhile Prospect Camp.

Coach Petty will be the first to tell you that the man that works the hardest with the South Canes is Coach Doug Collins. A super guy who does it for the love of the game and does a great job. I hope to do a TBR interview with him soon.

I saw this kid play. Should be a 2011 grad. Strong legs. Pitched 3 innings then they moved him to 3rd.

He got up to hit 2 times. Hit a rocket through the hole between 2nd and 3rd. The ball skipped off the ground like a golf ball and slammed into our left fielder. Later he flew out with a monsterous fly ball to center.
I did not see his full potential. Just amazed at what I saw him do and what I thought he was capable of. Talking to some folks at the game said he could hit it over the trees at the park we where in. I think the fields we played at where 320 at the corners. To hit it over the trees would suggest near 380-390ft.

I believe he was 14 y/o at the time.

Apricio is a 2012. He is a freshman now. He is the real deal.
