Or perhaps some went up to even shake his hand to tell him in person.

I live about six miles from Fairmont and have enjoyed watching Michael grow into a great player. His case is especially great since he has done it with as his mom said a 5'9", 140 lb body. But don't let his size fool you. He is a terrific athlete and is all heart. Just the kind a of kid any coach would kill to have on his team. Best of luck to Michael. And Mom and Dad, get ready to burn up HWY 74 for the next four years.

    Congrats Michael Bass

I met Michael and his family for the first time this past summer. He played along with my son on the Whiteville Post 137 legion team. Very quite, respectful young man with a lot of talent, very fast, great parents as well! Everytime my son pitched, I wanted Michael in the infield but wait I wanted him in the outfield as well. I saw this kid run down some balls in the outfield with ease and make some unbeliveable plays in the infield. He plays the game the way all players should play the game, he gives his all on every play. I only wish that he was going to ECU next year instead of UNC-W. Oh well, good luck on the Wendy's award and this coming year with Fairmont. I plan on attending a few games there this year....I heard that they have a top notch facility and they have a couple more good players on that team....they should do well this spring. Good Luck!

    Thank you

I want to say thank you for all the congratulatory remarks to Michael. Some posted on here, some sent PMs, some e-mailed, some called and some told him in person.
The film crew has left, travel arrangements have been made, interviews completed and the NLI to UNC-W has been signed. Things are finally getting back to "normal" with basketball and bowling taking the stage.
Please keep us in your prayers as we travel to NY. Michael feels very honored and excited and mom & dad are a little anxious because this small town family has never been to NY.
    Thanks again.
