I think Russmo was taking a jab at the thought:
"Was McDowell in the game enough that it really came down to Free Throws, or was it a better team and that was just one aspect of the loss?"
I'm sure TCR didn't make all thre FT's either.
I don't know but i would like to hear someones take that saw the game on how the Teams matched up?

...and 17-33 is more than 50%

Okay...we shot 51 percent (17-33) from the line. And no, the free throws were not the difference in the game. It was a 7-point game after one quarter and a 13 point lead at the half. Every time McDowell would string a few baskets together, Roberson answered to pull the lead back up.

Like I stated in an earlier post, I thought we matched up really well inside. Roberson had the advantage on the perimeter. All four perimeter players scored in double digits including the freshmen (Edmonds) who didn't play last week against Freedom.

I drove over and watched these two play last night after the Reynolds/Asheville JV games. In my opinion, Roberson is better this year than they were last year. This game had the fill of a game much closer than the score but it was obvious that Roberson was the much more talented team. Free throws did hurt McDowell but it was not the determining factor. Much different team than I saw from McDowell last year, but they did play very hard. When is the next Roberson/Freedom match up I would really like to see that one. I think Freedom is in the same situation that Reynolds is in. How can you have two division I players on one team and neither team (Reynolds/Freedom) have even won their conference with that type of talent. It may be time to find better coaches at both schools. Definately at Reynolds. Nice lady, but in over her head just a little. Go Rockets.

Don't really think you have any business or knowledge to speak about the coaching at Freedom High School. And the only reason Freedom didn't win the conference last year was McDowell.. 10-2 with the two losses being against McDowell. What was ACR's record. If you have a problem with coaching at ACR then that's fine- don't think you have any room to talk about any other school.

Freedom plays at TCR on Tuesday

Edmonds did play against us last week. SHe was #21 I believe. Pretty solid player for a freshman

Funny too, that your very first post is bashing a coach. Maybe you need to read the boards rules on what you can and can't post on here

Not that i even think your post has any merit but one question...who are Reynolds 2 division 1 players?
McDowell won the conference last year with NO division 1 players-(as of yet.) I think ACR had a girl that went to Davidson a couple years ago. FHS has Ford signed D-1 at Elon--so i think last post was right -you lack the conference background to comment on this negatively.

I don't know who took over for the Lady Rockets team, so I can not comment on that situation. However, Freedom is in good hands with their coaches. The NW4A is the toughest 4a girls basketball conference in the State. Just because a team does not win the conference, does not mean the coaches are not doing a good job. I know the Fox's personally and have coached against them both. They are quality basketball coaches and are doing a fine job at Freedom. This should be their year to win conference if everything goes according to plan. So, I don't think you need to blast coaches that are some of the best in our conference.

Keep up the great job, Amber!!!

I agree with you mtman. This should be their year to shine now that it's a little cloudy over in McDowell County.

19 -0 at end of first half
    38-5 at halftime

These girls are getting better every week. wouldn't just hand the conference over to Freedom just yet. If we had hit our open layups tonight we would have scored at least 20 more points.
