I hope you're not in an instructing position.

And when you mention tennis, I assume you're not including Billie Jean King, et al.

    yes, but...........

agree they are very nice, but looking at the finished product.....IMHO......... there's only one way to walk from State's 3rd base dugout up to the main concourse / stadium entrance area. This is through a stairway next to the visitors dugout. there's a landscaped slope area behind the State dugout that seems could have been better utilized someway with extended seating and a stairway or ramp?? just saying...........but still Go Pack! an on campus facility is always better than the alternative. would like to see them actually play more games / weekend tournaments at home...........

If you only interact with a few kids you don't have the opportunity to know much than those few. When you coach many kids you will find many lifestyles.

I've coached many kids and I've seen quite a diversity among those lifestyles. And what I have seen are wonderful kids.

Some of the most caring and courageous kids are the ones you seem to allude to in your post. When you say something like you have said (even if you think it is mild) it has a devastating effect on not only the kid but it affects the parents of those kids. Dealing with issues like this is tough enough without some ignorant comment making it tougher.

People are like they are! The courage to be yourself is much tougher than a lot of people realize! To have to hide yourself from the people you love more than anything in the world is a heavy and unfair burden to bear! And they have to bear it because of ignorance and selfishness and cowardice!

If you support the kids, show it! If you don't support the kids, all of the kids, maybe you should find something else. At the very least, educate yourself on the subject.

I would hope Wake Forest would use this chance. It sounds like a great opportunity to start a softball program. I will never with the money at Clemson why they don't have softball as a varsity sport.

With the question of some schools wanting to start other women's sports. Crew teams as opposed to softball, I understand that each boat starts at about $25,000. That would not include having a body of water to actually hold the events and practice nearby. I can buy alot of softballs and bats for the price of one boat.

    Crew Costs

This doesn't sound so cheap to me.
Cornell University= slightly less than a $1,000,000 yearly budget
    8-man boats at $32,000, 4-man boats at $20,000, 2-man $10,00
I don't know how many they have.
Division I has 20 scholarships available
85 Division I schools have Rowing team.

Softball seems like a pretty good deal................

I would still believe that starting a softball team, building the field, upkeep, lights...etc. would be a higher cost. Does anyone know the cost of NCSU's, UNC's, UNCG's facilities? I would wager they cost at least a million to build.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news (especially since I DO NOT know for certain) but I don't think Wake is entertaining the option of utilizing the baseball field "area" as a potential softball field. When Wake recruited my son this year and talked about moving to Ernie Shore field, I point blank ask the question about the possibility of starting a softball program. Coach Bauer indicated the Golf team was getting most of he area to expand their practice facilities. Again, I don't know for sure and could certainly see where you could shorten the field and still give the golf team roughly half of the space that is there and have room for both!!!

Being a traditionalist and having played legion games on Wake's field, I hate to see it totally go away and had hoped it would either become a practice field or at least a softball field.

Oh well, I guess only time will tell...
