I've never heard a college coach suggest otherwise...although I wish there wasn't such the overlap between basketball and baseball, a hoops player could easily miss the first couple weeks in an already short hs baseball season.

My son wrestled and played baseball. A couple college coaches said they liked wrestlers because it showed athleticism, both physical and mental strength, and the ability to react quickly and decisvely even when they were exhausted.

Play 'em all. Go hard or go home - leave no regrets behind. You've got the rest of your life to "specialize" in some kind of work that may not be near as much fun!

For me it's not playing multiple sports that concerns me. I think it's great!

    It's the overlapping seasons.

What would the football coach say if he knew you were leaving the team when the Basketball season started? Why should the Basketball coach have to wait for you? His sport is just as important as football.

Same goes for Baseball. What would the Basketball coach say if he knew you were leaving the team at the start of Baseball season? Yet the Baseball coach has to wait for your Basketball season to end?

Seems to me like the only one that doesn't have to worry about overlap is Football.

It also seems like Basketball has to wait for Football to end and Baseball has to wait for Basketball to end. Why? I'm being a bit ridiculous here but what would happen if it were the other way around?

Missing a part of the season is missing part of the season. Why is the end of one sport more important than the start of another? Especially when the start of the Baseball season is ALL THAT MATTERS ANYWAY!!!!

    overlap hits baseball and football...

Just this season my son played a football game on Friday night and had to get to Florida to play in a tourney. on Sat. For all practical purposes baseball is year round for high school kids hopeful of playing at the next level. No complaints really but it does require alot of dedication and sacrifice.

Yep - Football is a summer sport for sure. High schools start workouts the day after school is out. Many conflicts over the summer with the long tournaments. Football coach says "Football Season has Started" (on June 16!) No worries though - still playing 'em all!
