As yesterday was the opening day of practice for Universities that open the season on Feb. 6th, which most of them do.
I got to wondering just how many of these Universities and Colleges come close to break even finiancial, the number is probally very small, maybe UCLA, Texas, Ala, maybe UT.
Most colleges, play there games in the evening, not at night, (Lenior Rhyne has one game schedule that could run into the night and LR just had lighting installed this summer) so that about the only people in attendance is the parents, who I must say do a unbelievable job on getting to the games where ever they are played.

Maybe so of the posters here have better info. on this subject than myself..

    Travel Time

A lot of Div. II and down schools are opposed to playing at night because of late night travel. Plus some are just like high schools and they don't have lights. The ones without lights have to play their games early and don't expect to play late at places where they do have lights. It is tough for parents/supporters and students alike to attend games that begin at 2:00PM. But you are right about LR. They usually have support at home and away games. LR will have some games that begin at 3:00 & 3:30 and the second game of the doubleheaders will be under the lights.

    Admission?

Most of the D2 games I've been to don't even charge admission.

Fortunately... over half of my DD's games will be on the weekends and all are double headers... this makes it easier to make it to games. Her field has no lights and there is no charge to get in.

Virtually all my dd's games are on the weekend and Elon can't charge to get in since the field is right on the street but even UNCG w/ their beautiful complex very rarely charges. Catch a college game w/ your teams guys. The younger girls will marvel at the atmosphere and the older will see it's not a cake walk. Some very good players from all over the country riding the pine with humility and showing what team spirit is ALL about and that no matter how good you THINK you are there is almost always someone better.
