The ONLY way to ensure that you don't play TB on Sunday mornings is to play on a team that is BAD ENOUGH to be dismissed from the tourneys on Saturday afternoons/evenings!

It can be done.....I've done it. Been to church on many a Sunday when I didn't really want to be there.....and wished my kid was on a team that was still playing on Sunday AM.

    TB at 8 or 9.

I guess the concern here is not whether or not TB is a good or a bad idea at this age. So I won't go there.

TB vs spiritual growth balancing act.

Have had church right at the ball field. Always a prayer before the game. Saturday or Sunday.

IMO you can worship anywhere. Don't have to dress up in your Sunday best and stand in pews.

However you do trade something for the other here.

To point out the obvious you do miss out on something by not attending a Church. You miss out by not being around others who try to model their spiritual lives like you do.

Don't know the answer for any one but our family and how we did things.

For me Im certain that God loves baseball and thats enough for me. My faith won't slip. For our kids Im not sure if their faiths are developed enough to endure the tough times when their faiths are tested.

Maybe government and religion don't mix but:

Baseball and religion, IMO, go hand in hand.

    JC is my catcher.

I've had two kids play travel ball, in different sports at different times.

Mixing church and ball is no doubt very difficult but doable. There are churches everywhere and many have services at odd times which help.

You as a family have to decide weather you can pratice your faith where ever you team may travel and are willing to be creative OR can you only practice your faith at your home church in your home town. Your pastor may have one idea, your God may have another. Your pastor works at one chuch, JC worked all over. There are policitcs there to consider.

Having said that.....I will add this as bad as it may sound. Anyone who has been around travel sports know this. If your son or daughter can play well......missing a game (even on Sunday morning) can be worked around. If your child is the #8 on the team, you'll find coaches to be less flexible. (Disclaimer: Not all are like this, I know).
