Does anyone have any good tryout forms or know where to get some? Spreadsheet forms would be great!

How many days does everyone allow for tryouts?

What is the opinion on freshmen making varsity? What if it cost a 4-year senior a spot?

    This is what I use

    Here is a evaluation sheet.....

    Modify it as needed

As info...We don't measure catcher pop times,

    We measure
    1. Release time ( receiving of ball to release )
    2. Accuracy
    3. Velocity

I am not a coach at the H.S. level, but if your are trying to put the best team out there to win, then put your best players out there including freshmen. If your playing politics and favorites (daddyball) play the senior.

what if it's between a freshman and a sr., and they are equal talent and skills level?

seven years ago when i entered softball, seniority ruled, no matter what, but that has changed for most schools. talent is talent, play your best. but to me, if i have a freshman who is as talented as a senior, i play the senior because of her having three more years of experience of hs ball. most of us are crying for talent and athletics, so this issue is prevelant. i've seen most of the girls who are coming out for softball, a total of 32, and its a no brainer who is going to make varsity and who will make jv. our decissions are based on experience, talent and attitude. 15 on varsity, but only 11 have experience playing softball.....thats pretty sad for 32 kids dont ya think???? but this is highschool and ya have to play the hand you're dealt......four travel ball players, we havent had that in three years....
