I don't know anyone from East being worthy but as a team they deserve a representative.

6) What was the best team match up you have seen so far? This league is so balenced but I think I would look forward to FHS vs McDowell

3) Who is your COY?: Way too early to call...I think Katie Gravel has done a pretty darn good job early on in conference play getting wins against South Caldwell and McDowell. Parham also deserves a ton of credit at South Caldwell. Ask me this same question 4 weeks from now and you may get two completely different answers, things could change that quickly.

4) Who is your surprise team so far?: East Burke

5) Who is your best 3 point shooter?: Ford

 

Bigdan you do realize that Whitney Brinkley for ACR is leading WNC in scoring, according to the Asheville Citizens-Times. She is also averaging a double-double (21 ppg, 10 reb). I think she is deserving of NW4A All-Conference (mid-season).

 

I have to agree that if I was starting a team Brinkley would be my first Post choice in NW4A. More versatile...but Gellman is a Handfull in a slower paced half court set.

Ford, Freedom

Great player that faces a defense every night geared toward stopping her.



3) Who is your COY?


Franklin, McDowell. Team in a position at this point of the year that no one thought they would be in after all they lost last year. (Including myself)



4) Who is your best sixth man?


Do not have enough knowledge of all bench personnel to name names but like players off the bench at both South and Watauga.



5) Who is your surprise team so far?

Would have Said East Burke three weeks ago, would have to say McDowell now. May have a different answer in two weeks.



6) What was the best team match up you have seen so far?


Freedom at South. Reynolds at Freedom. I missed the Freedom at McDowell match up but will not miss the next one.



7) What was the best player match up you have seen so far?



Taylor vs. Ford.



8) Who is your best 3 point shooter?


Ford, Freedom. Outstanding shooter.



9) Who is your team that no one should take lightly (Cannot be your school)?


Watauga. Well coached team that I think may slip up on someone before this season comes to an end.



10) Where are the best fans (Cannot vote for your school)?



Watauga, great atmosphere. McDowell, great facility. Alexander, friendliest people.



** On a sidenote, I have seen some less than positive statements about coaches in some of the older posts. I would just like to say that I think the NW4A has the best coaches of any high school conference from top to bottom. Classy individuals who know their stuff and care about what they are doing. I watched the young lady at Alexander coach her team til the final buzzer in a game that was obvious they would not win from the very beginning.
