The problem I see by not having middle school sports is it not hurting the kids that have the means or the parents that care enough to find the means in aiding their kids to participate in a "rec" or "club" team. But the kids that don't have those parents or guardians, they would not get to paricipate in a given sport. Talk about 'no child left behind'...they would/could be.

    pay up

I think it will soon get to be "pay to play" in all middle or high school sports.

Sadly, you're probably right...therefore there'll be those kids that won't be able to participate because of it too.

Wake County has no baseball in middle school. Lots of club teams, most other sports are covered. Baseball was eliminated to allow for girls track a few years ago. I think most if not all middle schools have football, basketball ,track and soccer.

...all wake county public middle schools offer sports. My youngest DD had boys basketball, football, track, soccer, baseball; the girls had basketball, volleyball, softball, track, cheerleading, and soccer.:fish:man

We werer discussing that school board members often want to remove athletics from schools. Athletes are across the board the best students as a group, less behavior problems, better grades, less drug use, less teen pregnacy, all the issues that others want to spend money on. So now people want to take their positive outlets away. Middle school coaching is fair at best. We have our kids in sports for bigger issues.

Fishman... is the baseball a "club" sport? I know they used to not have baseball in Wake but parents organized teams at some of the middle schools.
