Just talked to Jessica Lane from Harnett Central. She has torn an acl with other knee damage and will miss the entire season. She's a junior so at least she has another season after this. That is one good kid! You can't ask for a better athlete or person! If you watched the State Games she was one of the ones putting them on the warning track.

Don't know the whole story but you just don't have a kid practice the triple jump for track on a hard surface!

    Oh God! Another torn ACL?

PHREAK.....It will take a good month to 6 to 8 weeks to get that knee ready for surgery if she does it right away. Lots of stationary bike to make that leg strong if she can do it. That leg will shrink like nobody's business. If she works hard and the extent of the other ligament damage is not to bad she might make it back by the beginning of next season if she is lucky. 4 month to running, 6 to 9 months for full strength if she gets the hamstrings strong. Tell her folks to take her to Alison Toth at Duke Sports Medicine before they do anything. She did Martha's knee. Physical Therapy at DSM will tell her what to do to get the knee ready. Don't know her but our hearts go out to her. Hate to hear that. Best of luck to her!

Don't know how much info I should share but she's got one of the best (some say THE best) orthopedic surgeons around here. She's a strong kid and hard worker so I'm sure she's going to do well. Her Dad won't leave nothing to chance; for sure.

Whoever she uses I hope they just so happen to have a donor available if they need one. They come in handy when you need one last minute. Good luck to her.
