The website is now fully open for the nominations for the Battle of the Border Softball All Star Game. Registration is also open now for the Talent Showcase that will be held on the day before the all-star game. The reception from college coaches has been fantastic so far for the talent showcase.

A well qualified group of softball people are helping with this event and I really believe it will fit in nicely with the other events that you have seen offered by The South Charlotte Sports Report.

I will be glad to answer any questions and I encourage you to visit the site.

Thanks for everyone for their support in helping this idea reach fruition.

    1st Year

I believe this is the first year for the event. I heard all of the local coaches have been notified. Using same format as boys showcase events and they have been very successful. CBC is a great training place. I do not work there but have been inside many times. We plan on attending.

This is the first year of this event. A little history, I own the South Charlotte Sports Report, a youth sports newspaper in South Charlotte. We also run a lot of youth programs, camps, Hot Stove Dinner, action photography business and a few other related events.

I came up with the idea to have an event locally for the top boys and girls in this area. I wanted to accomplish two things, provide an all star event where folks locally can see the kids play the best of the best and also build a showcase event where coaches can come to one location to evaluate the 10, 11 and 12 classes.

My philosophy with this event as well as everything else we do is to run a first class event that will make coaches, players and parents happy. I realize that with any sports there are people trying to make a fast buck on kids, my goal is not to get in and get out with cash as much as it is to build this into the premiere showcase in the NC/SC area. A lot of you on this board know me and have expressed a lot of positive comments on the event, I know I am personally very excited about the event, both from the baseball and softball side.

One thing I learned a long time ago is to have good partners on all events. Just like I work with the top coaches in the area on my camps, I have partnered with some high quality people on the event. The folks over at CBC bring a ton of help to me on the baseball part of the event. On the softball front, I have partnered with two of the most well versed softball parents in the state. For now they are in the background , but for those that know them, you know what kind of people they are.

My commitment to the kids is to make this worth their money for the showcase and to reward the young ladies that are chosen to the all -star game.

I can't wait until the first pitch.

As a side note, we have a number of young ladies already signed up for the showcase and I have received over 35 nominations already for the All star game

    Awesome!!!!!

I think this is awesome. The girls really have an opportunity to be seen. It seems more and more opportunities are popping up every year. If you want to play in college you really need to get out to these events and create a name for yourself. Good luck with this. I hope all of the girls reach there dreams.

Its open to all members of 10, 11 and 12 class and we would also take a few members of 09 class if they were still searching for a home.

If a kid is committed but feels unsure of their decision and wanted more exposure, we certainly wouldnt turn our backs on them.

The all star game portion of the week is for the best of the best, committed or not,
