hi guys, long time lurker just decided to join the fun.

Who are the top teams around Wake County this spring? I read the thread on the Cap7 and it was very informative. How about the other Wake County conferences? Johnston County?

If you read the CAP 7 thread you know about those teams, so here's some information on the rest of Wake County.

First the Tri-8: Apex has one of the top pitching staffs around the state and an extremely good defense. If they can be successful on the offensive side they could be one of the top teams in the state. Fuquay-Varina has been great for many years now. They have 2 really good pichers and a lot of upside on offense. Probably the #2 team in the Tri-8 behind Apex. Athens Drive should have on of the best offenses around due to the successful West Raleigh LL program. Green Hope, Lee Co., & Middle Creek are usually solid and well coached. Cary and Panther Creek will be much better this year than last.

To the Greater Neuse: It is time for Holly Springs to shine. A fine yet young pitching staff will lead the way. They are similar to Apex yet younger. SSS will probably battle the Hawks for the conference title. Garner and Clayton should battle for 3rd and 4th but both could be good enough to win it. Garner is unexperienced on the mound but can really swing it. East Wake could finish anywhere from first to fifth and they have one of the top freshman in the nation. It will definately be interesting to watch them this year. I do not know anything about West Johnston. Knightdale and SE Raleigh are also in the conference, but will doubtly figure in the title hunt.

Lack of player talent is not the obstacle Athens has to overcome...

They need to promote the JV Coach as every year tons of talent go through there from West Raleigh and most hate baseball by their senior year.
Had enough talent the last 5 years to go far in the playoffs but none did to many reasons: no spirit, no off season workout dedication, no leadership, I could go on and on.

I dont see the need to bash the current coaching staff, whether through implications or direct statements. Of course, coaches have their own styles, but I just dont see where a public bashing does any party any good here. Keep the comments positive and let the players play the game without these useless distractions.

    Coach Evans

I hear your comments Coach Evans but all you have to do is ask the people that have played there, the parents that have watched the games, or even opposing coaches.
    No more comments from me.
Go visit the program and see for yourself.

I will say that I have not seen this program in a long while, though I may in the Bobby Murray as we could meet in the eecond round. All I was saying is that this is not the place to bash a coach. I totally respect what you have to say and your right to say it. I sincerely hope you haven't taken this personally because it was not intended to be personal. Good luck this season. I do have some a friend that was at Athens years ago, and they seem to me to have had a respectable program there. Sorry if I inflame you. If you wish to discuss further, you can always PM me.
