    Consider yourself "invited," Braves!

Southern01, would you or Grayben please contact the Beef Master and bump up the reservation...again?

Braves, you and Stretchy were inclusive of the 4 mentioned above. Braves, Stretchy, Prepster, and Robert. Unfortunately, I don't believe that the Beef Master accepts reservations. They may, however HAVE reservations about allowing such a motley crew to descend upon their establishment all at once. And, since Grayben would likely be the one to tip the scales out of favor for all to dine at once.....well, you can see that would present a problem since he is paying......again!!
As to the take-out plate for the Western Pot Stirrer....seems as though the food is mysteriously missing upon delivery. It could have something to do with the fact that Braves is moonlighting as the delivery guy!
Talking about getting off some dusty money, Grayben noted that the Master seats about 44 people and that if a certain poster(Strike-em-out) would get off some of his mattress investments, then the two of them could feed a whole TBR contingent. Therefore, I am suggesting that the first 40 posters to hereafter reply to this thread should indeed be lavished with a quality ribeye, courtesy of our esteemed, and well heeled posters Grayben and Strike-Em-Out. All in favor say, AYE!!!

In my zeal to inform TBR members of the genteel nature of our friend in Wilson, it somehow got lost in the info that Grayben is also a staunch friend to those who serve....waiters and the like you know. Bentley jr. asked if one of his teammates could join us at Beef Master, and Grayben, answering with the wait staff at the forefront of his thoughts, replied that he only had $120.00 in his wallet and that just the four of us should dine. What a far seeing man this guy is. The bill for the meal was around $114.00. What transpired next is one of those things that just leaves you thinking, "what a guy" ! As he handed the waiter the contents of his wallet he was heard to say, "I don't need any change".

Well...well....well....., while I'm out being a loyal civil servant and earning my stimulus check, I'm being cyber bashed by my good friends from Nash County. So, let's set the record straight. I had an ample amount of money to treat my friends to a great steak dinner if they were reasonable and didn't go overboard. Right off the bat, Southern throws a curve by ordering some fancy foriegn beer from Wisconsin or somewhere called
"Ying-a ling" or something like that. Baseball Britt follows suit with a few beers and Little Grayben and I know it's gonna be tough to meet the budget. Southern and BB order 20 oz. steaks and Lil GB and I have to order the salad bar and water. But, that's OK because a bet is a bet. Once the check comes I keep waiting for Southern and BB to make a move/offer to get the tip but evidently they both think tipping is a city in China! Well, I had to step up and leave the waiter a big $6 tip. I know...I know...., that's a lot of money but when you got it, you got it. I don't know how deep Southern and BB's pockets are but I do know they both have awfully short arms! Lil GB and I snuck back to Beefmaster after they had left town and slipped our waiter a $5 spot. Didn't want him to think we were cheap. We have a reputation in Wilson you know!

    sad day at the "bosh"

As a "Railbird Emeritus," I'm skeptical about having to watch from the "wrong" side of the diamond; but, I suppose I'll get used to it. At least I take heart in the fact that 3rd base umpires seem to require every bit as much "advice"as their brethren on 1st base seemed to require.

doing away with the old "lean on the fence" area near first base is a shame. I met a lot of Dads down there over the years. You could always tell whose son was pitching or at bat. If things went well on the field there were smiles and winks shared. If things didn't go so well, there was always a pat on the back and a "he'll get 'em next time". Many a ACC ump was "educated" by these guys. They were always willing to help Mr. Blue with any close calls... I'm sure it was appreciated!
I guess now the Dads will have to sit in the stands with their wives and fetch drinks and snacks when needed... poor guys!

OH yeah... Free food? I'm available!

Come on down! There's a group of us that are going to do all we can to re-create the atmosphere of the 1st base "patio!" We may have chairbacks behind us; but, nothing says that we HAVE to sit in 'em! Why, heck, I may even bring my brick from the old stadium's "patio" just so that I'll have something familiar under foot!

Meanwhile, the umpires continue to demonstrate that a highly observant and knowledgeable "advisory group" is sorely needed, and we're there to fill the need! I know they'll be relieved when they look up there and see us ready to offer our expert opinions whenever they seem to be confused.

Obviously, you'll still fit very comfortably into that environment...even if it is on the wrong side of the field!
