2009 State Sectional Final Scores

    AK 60, East Gaston 49 (OT)

    Ardrey Kell won their sectional with a 60-49 overtime victory at East Gaston. The lead did not get to more than 3-5 points at anytime during the second half it seemed in a hard fought game with a great environment. Alex Watkins put the Knights ahead 48-46 with 6 seconds to play in the fourth, only to be answered by the Warriors #20 I believe, don't know the name, going coast to coast after the time-out to tie the game at 48 at the regulation buzzer. AK rebounded from the buzzer-beater to score the first 7 or so points of the overtime and outscore the Warriors 12-1 in the extra frame.

    I believe the other sectional winners as I heard from coaches are Hopewell, Mt. Tabor, and Myers Park. Don't have any scores on those or the pairings for Thursday night at UNCG as I was told that the NCHSAA mixes up/re-seeds the sectional winners for the regional semi-finals to keep from having intra-conference or intra-area matchups as much as possible. Does anybody know when the pairings for Thursday will be announced/posted?
