Orange HS outfielder - Jeffrey Watkins looked good Saturday 3-3, 3 runs and 2 doubles, one to each gap. He flew around the bases and showed a good arm.

It's a shame Tate Parrish's (2010 UNC commit) 1 hitter thru 6 innings for SSS was not included in the article or the leadoff HR (did not see any other HRs hit?) hit by uncommitted Senior Josh Holloman. The SSS / Hopewll game was very well played and pitching on both sides limited hitting.

    Sometimes, you just know...

... that you have witnessed something special!

The conglomerate of scouting personnel at Saturday's event is a testament to the growth and development of baseball talent here in NC. There has always been talent here but it was always scattered and somewhat hidden away from the general awareness of the public. Certainly the pro scouts could find them, and the college recruiters knew where most of them were, but now they are being seen "en mass".

The beauty of it is that the "marquee" names bring the attention, while the previously unknown players have a chance to get exposure that could change their futures. With every "unknown discovered" the odds get better for younger players to have the same chance. The scouts know that where one prospect is found, it's worth looking for more there in the coming seasons.

    Thanks AP!
