This game was about as good as you could ask. Two outstanding performances by starting pitchers Tanner Merritt(JHR), and Hobbs Johnson.
    Merritt -- 6IP,3R,2ER,5H,3BB,10K
    Johnson- 5IP,4R,2ER,6H,3BB,11K

JHR- 2 hits each for Sugg, McDonald,Searcy
RM- 2 hits each for Goodwin,Fish,Pittman

RM with a couple more micues than Rose(Rose WILL take advantage with that ) Goodwin reached base 4 times(3 in scoring pos.) and RM failed to score him

Great outings by relievers Nick Hahula for RM and Paul McIntosh for Rose.
    Hahula--4IP,1R,1ER,4H,0BB,2K
    Mac----2 1/3IP,0R,0ER,1H,1BB,1K

RM stranded 10 baserunners, 5 in scoring pos.
Rose stranded 7 basebrunners, 2 in scoring pos.

Scouts out en masse again at RM. They had a good time at this one. Most stayed until the last pitch.

Tried to hook with you to say hello but I guess they didn't have you run the board. Thanks for the directions, they were perfect.

I must say I was impressed with Rocky Mount's program. The kids and fans seemed first class. Greenville has a lot of respect for Rocky Mount baseball. All the state championship signs along the outfield fence were cool too.

Wound up with other duties Doc. I tried to catch you after the game, but you had just left. I don't know when I have seen anything as baffling to hitters as P Mac. He's fun to watch.........except when he's your opponent(LOL!). We'll try to catch up at the next one.

I was actually shocked to see Paul pitch Tuesday. He pitched six in the win over Providence on Saturday and is scheduled to pitch against Eastern Wayne this Friday if I am not mistaken. Monday he was saying his arm was still a little sore. However he told RV during the game Tuesday that if things got tight and he was needed, he would be ready. That is just the way Paul is, for him it is all about the team. He will do anything (within the rules) to help Rose win a game.

    Ben Fish:

Whoever gets Ben is getting a good one. I think Ben is one of the best "Clutch" hitters in the state. Ben led Rocky Mount last year in RBI's, I believe. I big key to any team's success is hitting the ball with runners in scoring position. I believe that's one of his strong points. He is also a great catcher. Rocky Mount is going to have a hard time replacing him.
