Rob Pearce pitched great for the Patriots. Rob is just getting back from ACL surgery that put him out of football and basketball. He also added 2 hits. Jeremy Vaughn went 4-4 with a HR for Southern.

Southern is now 3-1 and Chatham falls to 0-2.

Great pitchers duel tonight in Jamestown between SWG's Ethan Ogburn and Ragsdale's David Coffey. After pitching a no hitter on Saturday, Coffey followed that up with six more hitless innings tonight before SWG scratched out their only hit of the game. Coffey had 10 SOs and I believe only one walk to go with the one hit.

Ogburn matched him pitch for pitch. Ragsdale only scratched out two hits - maybe only one as we had two differing view points tonight. But Walt Sparks led off the seventh and reached on a comebacker to Ogburn whose throw was high and wide allowing Sparks to reach. A walk and a strikeout and an intentional walk to Desean Anderson brought up Kyle Brandenburg who lifted a one out fly ball to center. It didn't look that deep but Sparks slid home without a play at the plate for the 1-0 win.

That was nothing but a typical Ragsdale-SWG baseball game. So glad they'll be conference opponents next season when the games will mean even more.

Ragsdale is now 6-0 with five shutouts to their credit. A great start to the season.

Michael Atz started for the Sabres and pitched 4 2/3 innnings of one hit ball while striking out 8 for the night. Atz didn't allow a base runner to reach second base while allowing 0 runs for the evening. Caleb Cunningham entered the game and pitched the final 2 1/3 innings to close the game out. Cunningham allowed one earned run while striking out 2. He also had two hits for the Sabres to lead the offense attack. Cunningham and Derrick Rowe each had 2 RBI's for the night.

    Sabres record is now 3 - 1!
