Post Season Events/Awards

I figure there will be some post season events and awards that can be shared here:

I know from FHS athletic Banquet Chelsea Connelly (2nd team) and Ali Ford (1st Team) made all- region

North Carolina Girls All-Stars player, Ali Ford from Freedom High School won both the girls and the overall three point-shot contest, Friday night during the skills competition of the NC vs SC Beachball Classic at Myrtle Beach.

Nikki Burton was game MVP as the North beat the South 111-77, while Ford broke the Game's all time assist record with 7.

The AP yesterday released their North Carolina All-State Team...

What I found very interesting was that no Butler players got enough votes to make All-State while two West Charlotte girls made it...

 

Also Natalie Baker of East Burke made it from the NW4A. I'm sure just an oversite on your behalf FHSBB.

Also congrats to Elizabeth Ross and Brittany Yancey from Draughn for making the teams.

Franklin led the Titans (23-6) to their third straight Northwestern Conference regular-season championship despite losing his top three scorers from the 2007-2008 season to graduation. With only two seniors, McDowell was on the only Western North Carolina team to beat Northwestern tournament champion Freedom.

Ward earned a spot on the All-Northwestern Conference team thanks to averages of 16.2 points, 4.1 steals, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists a game for the Northwestern regular-season champion Titans.

Taylor was named to the All-Northwestern Conference team after averaging 15.6 points, 3.8 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game for the Rockets. She scored her 1,000th career point and shot 80 percent from the free-throw line.

Brinkley garnered All-Northwestern Conference honors after averaging team-high totals in scoring (18.8 points a game) and rebounds (9.1 a game) for the Rockets. She shot 58 percent from the field and scored her 1,000th career point.
