D.H. Conley vs. J.H. Rose tonight.....

    ...when those two get together you can throw records and stuff out the door. Those two teams usually bring the best out of each other and the games are usually close and mega-stressful. What is cool about this matchup is that a lot of players on both teams have played together at some point in their baseball lives, be it tee ball, Little League, travel ball, Babe Ruth or Legion Ball. A lot of the parents go to church together or work together. However for those two hours it is war.

    I think it was last year at Conley the game was intense, their fans on their side being vocal, our fans on our side being vocal, the players on both sides battling and suddenly the power goes out for 35 minutes. During the outage, Rose and Conley players were mingling, laughing and cutting up. Rose and Conley parents were visiting, laughing and cutting up. Then the lights came on and bam, Conley fans were back on their side being vocal and Rose parents the same. Dang, Pitt County baseball is fun!!!

    One of those bragging rights games!

    Every county has one:
    Nash County: Northern Nash vs. Rocky Mount (Tonight, by the way.!)
    Wilson County: Fike vs. Hunt! (Round 1 went to Fike: 9-6)
    Wayne County: Eastern Wayne vs. C.B. Aycock (Round 1 went to Eastern Wayne, 6-0)

    Rocky Mount wins 2-0 Hobbs Johnson 12k's and Tyler Joyner 15k's and give up only 3 hits each. Great game.

    Conley whipped Rose 6-3 tonight....

    ....Congrats to Conley and their fans. They outplayed us and deserved the win.

    JHR - 6 hits collected by four players...and at least 4 errors... got to turn the corner on that. DHC deserved this one...they hit what was pitched and played good D.

    Definately looking forward to the rubber match... No rest for the weary... South Central Friday at home... same scenario...throw out the records and strap it on...
