Myers Park 11 South Meck 7

Myers Park closed out the first half of the SW4A season winning at South Meck Thursday night. The Observer boxscore incorrectly credited SM with 6 errors; MP committed the 6 errors. MP drew 10-11 walks along with 2 HBP and had 10-11 hits on a drizzly evening. Robert Balsley pitched a complete game for MP, allowing only 1 earned run in the first inning. MP allowed 6 unearned runs over the last 2 innings after taking an 11-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth. Brian Holberton, J.D. Ey, Harrison Henney, and Matt Hedberg all had multiple hit games for MP.

Myers Park improves to 9-2, 4-2 in conference, with a suspended game to be completed against Weddington, ahead 4-2 in the fifth inning.

Myers Park hosts the Jack Sink Easter Tournament on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Next game is Tuesday at 7:00 PM with Charlotte Country Day.

    EM at MP

The EM game at MP was terrific, from an EM perspective. Makes a big difference when the pitcher hits the mound in the bottom of the 1st with a 3 run lead. The Eagles came out on fire and Little added fuel to that fire from the mound. Probably the best complete game I have seen the Eagles play in a long time. Great to see Little get the win after pitching well but losing to Butler and Ardrey Kell in games where the Eagles did not show up offensively nor defensively. Leighton Daniels continues to hit the ball well. Good to see others lending him a hand. Great game, Eagles. Good luck in the Spring Break tourney.

Story of the game is Alex Baker on the hill. No doubt AK hit the ball hard all night long, but Mr. Baker was dominant with control of 3 pitches only allowing 1 walk. He has 3 quality outings in a row having been thrown in the fire against Myers Park and Providence in long relief and handling those "pressure cooker" situations very well. Looked very confident out there and look for him to be a big plus for AK in the 2nd half of the season.

One more thing..watching Ryan Stetson run the bases is worth the price of admission!
