Even with the seeding in football, you still have top teams going against other top teams early based on location while others play easier teams

    There is

nothing you can do about it. There are #3 seeds from some conferences that are stronger than #1 seeds from others. There is no way your going to take a conference champion from a weaker conference and make them a #3 seed and take a #3 team from a stronger conference and make them a #1 seed.

You are always going to have certain teams playing tougher competition early and other teams playing weaker competition early. Its not going to change and there is no way to change it and make it fair. How are you going to seed anyway? By overall record? Some teams play weak conf and non conf competition and have outstanding records. Are you going to reward them with a high seed for playing weak teams? Some teams play tough non conf and tough conf teams all year. They might have a 15-8 record but they may be outstanding. Now if you give that team a low seed how is that fair?

All you can do is put your best guys out there and play ball. Some very good teams get beat in the first round every year. They will this year as well. By the time it gets to the finals the top teams will survive and play for it. Fair has nothing to do with it. There is no way to judge fair and there is no way your going to get people to agree anyway on something like this. Predetermined brackets based on conference alignment and conference seeding is the way it is and the way its going to be.

If your the best team in the state you shouldnt care who you play anyway. Your going to have to beat some good teams and if you dont your not the best team this year , at least not the best in a one and done format.

When are all these great teams supposed to play each other? They have to play at some point and time. Might as well T it up and get on with it. Good luck to all the teams.

SW4A was was one sided in 2007 as well(first year of expanded format). It was split 2/3 last year. I believe there is a strong geographical element in the first round.

    Dawg

they just dont care. They put the teams in on a geographic basis with no regard to how it will play out. I think its wrong and its not the right way to run a tourney. Just like putting both wild cards in one half of the bracket, that has happened as well. I dont think its right and I dont like it.

Get this for awesome- whoever wins the Northwestern 4A (Watauga, McDowell or South Caldwell) will be at home, but will face the Southwest 4A #5 in Round 1, the Southwest #3 in round 2, and the Southwest #1 in round 3.

Can we please get some variety in the playoffs.

No doubt a tough 2nd round match-up for Ragsdale. But you could also phrase it this way. Either Lake Norman or East Rowan is staring at a 2nd round match-up with Ragsdale. By the 2nd round you should start seeing some tough games.
