Jamey Lee, a junior pitcher for our team, was hit in the face by a line drive on Monday night against South Davidson. He has suffered 4 broken bones around his eye socket and broke his nose in a number of places. The doctors will be doing a 2nd CAT scan this week to determine if there is any severe damage to his forehand. He will be having plastic surgery sometime in the next week or so (once the swelling goes down) to repair the damage....but the mental toll could take a while.
Thank you to the family of the young man that hit the ball for their email and to all the fans of South Davidson for their concern. Please keep this wonderful young man and his family in your thoughts & prayers as he begins a difficult road to recovery. Thanks - Coach Knight

    Prayers from Hickory

My son spent a week in the hospital in March for the same thing. Our thoughts and prayers to the Lee family and his teammates. You will be surprised how quickly they rebound!

Prayers for this young man and his family.... I am sure that it must have been difficult for players on both teams as well to witness this.

I am thankful not to be a pitchers mom.....

I had a similar injury many years ago, I know how he feels- makes my face hurt thinking about it.

    Prayers sent.

    Prayers

Our prayers are with the young man for a speedy recovery and return to the diamond. Don't know if this is the proper place for it, but seems to fit...When are we going to start using wooden bats or at least scale back the technology of the modern bats to give the pitcher a chance to react to a hard hit ball. In most instances of this, the pitcher has absolutely NO CHANCE to protect himself from a line drive. Any thoughts? Again, my apologies to the families if this is not the appropriate place, but this came to mind.

Pitcher's dad's and mom's are like one big family. We have thoughts of this every time our son's pitch. My heart and prayers go out to the Lee family and to Jamey for a speedy recovery

We'll be praying along with everyone else for a speedy recovery for Jamey and for his family. All pitchers' families live in fear of this type of injury.
