Coach that was an awesome report on the game. I recently moved to Charlotte and at the suggestion of neighbors have somewhat gotten "addicted" to watching high school baseball in this area. Providence and AK have amazing talent and I have been following the players. With that being said, one player was missing from your summary. First baseman for Providence, Cory Smith, made some amazing picks at first base during this game. His last backhand pick from keeping Zico Pasut off of the base path was key to the end of this ballgame.

excellent point...and so very true. Cory is a blue collar player. Always comes ready to work and to do his job. He may not get the attention he deserves, but Providence wouldn't be where they are without him. I guarantee you, Coach Hignight appreciates what Cory Smith brings to the field everyday.

    Thanks for pointing that out

that is always my fear when I do a game like this. I will leave off someone that I should not have. And the fact is every kid that played on both teams contributed for their team. The pick was huge! He played a great game.

I have been to a local coaches clinic here in Richmond, VA, the last two years.....last year Coach Bagwell spoke, and this year Coach Hignight spoke. Listening to them speak and talk about their programs, their expectations, their work ethic, etc. you just knew they ran outstanding outfits. I've never seen either team play, but none of Coach May's report surprises me, as hearing them speak you know how much knowledge of the game they have, but more importantly how much passion they have for the game and their kids. Some time I'm going to make it a point to see these guys in action on the field.....this is what high school baseball is all about

Hignight and Bagwell have done their jobs as baseball coaches and their professionalism is reflected in their players. What an outstanding group of young men on both teams.
