Of course the coaches have a right to their rules. And those rules should be followed if you're a part of the team. My disappointment is with the players not being allowed to play. Nothing whatsoever against the players. But forced loyalty is not loyalty. And loyalty is a virtue!

My DD never played in either of those tournaments mentioned--if they ever existed. My point is that players who play for their HS have a permanent record of their accomplishments. I can look up names like Eva Herron, Erica Innis, Keri McGee, Carol Lilly, Stephanie Williams, Christina Jackson, Sara Jackson, Roxanne . . . and on and on in HS record books. They remember their TB accomplishments but there is no permanent record of it for the sport in general.

And the State Games has the potential to honor the best of the best for time eternal.

    Geez.....

Little dramatic, don't you think? "For time eternal?????" (a little too much)

If your kid wants to play in the State Games, then play in the State Games.
This isn't North Korea or China. There is STILL freedom of choice in this country.....for now.

As an FYI, for it not to be mere gossip and rumor, you have to CITE YOUR SOURCE of such information. Until you do that, you are merely attempting to incite the feud between HS and TB. You seem to do that well.

I'm sure all rosters of the State Games will be full.........of deserving players that want to be there.

I agree, forced loyalty is not loyalty at all and NO coach HS or TB should forbid a player from furthering themself or their skill set.

A little dramatic; but you get the point.

The freedom of choice is exactly why I'm concerned. I know what the decision would be given freedom of choice.

There shouldn't be a "feud" between HS and TB. We should all put the players first.

And the Games rosters will be full and the names of those players will be recorded and therefore my disappointment that the players who are not allowed to play won't be in those records!

    Agree Double Dog

Do not see any travel team or coach mentioned so I agree DD, there is not reason for this post nor a battle between HS and TB! I am sure if there was such a thing, if the players and parents wanted to play state games, they would!

Heck, if someone doesn't want to play State Games or if someone insists on playing on a TB team that won't let them; I'm sorry they are going to miss out, but it opens up an opportunity for someone else.

As an outside observer, I have always found it silly to argue what's more important: HS or TB. They should both be able to co-exist. But the petty bickering and the territorial stances do nothing to help expose and give credibility to a sport that deserves so much more.

Here's an event in our own state that gathers most college coaches in our region. It's not expensive and you won't have to travel to Florida or Texas to gain their attention. It's a win/win situation for everybody that is participating. For those that can't or won't play.....you're missing out on a great opportunity. For those that are playing...you will have the time of your life.

John Wooden said it, a little differently, but basically the same so I give him the credit. I changed it a little for my signature on this board. I've found it to be very true the past 10 years.

After tryouts today I'm feeling much better. Our region is going to be very competitive in the Games! I still hate it for the ones that can't play but now the focus needs to be on the ones that are playing.

The past two State Games tournaments have been great. It's going to be tough to top the great atmosphere at Greensboro but I'm hoping that's what happens.

    The Truth is Revealed!!!!

Now I get it, Phreak......you were afraid YOUR TEAM in YOUR REGION was going to be less than amazing because the TB players didn't come out!! And to think that I thought you were worried about "honoring the best of the best for time eternal???"

It sure is nice to know that your region's team will be competitive....and that sufficient talent showed up for your tryouts. I know I'll sleep MUCH BETTER now.

    WOW....human nature at it's best!
Guess the feud between TB and the State Games has been resolved.
    Good Luck to all.

You might not be smart enough to understand this so I'll try to help you. ALL the players that tried out were HS players!!

You may have the last word; I can't help you any more.
