    Agreed

flounderfisherman and east99 are absolutely correct.

Mat Batts LHP - (Mt. Tabor) Great kid, great family, and one heck of a baseball player. Blows my mind that Mat has not been snatched up.

Justin Setzer LHP - (Marvin Ridge) Another that should be pitching at the next level. May not throw 90, but knows how to pitch and very effective.

Clay Tresher RHP - (Weddington) Has been a work horse at Weddington this year. I believe it was Clay who gave Providence their only SW4A loss and pitched the complete game (extra innings). Clay can hit as well, homering against us last Friday night.

All three are outstanding students as well.

Seth Mahaffey 2009 Parkland - I think can be a two way D1 player at smaller D1 - his arm is healthy, he knows how to get people out - 85 -88 with great off speed - plus he mashes - he is the steal out there.

Also Taylor Atkins 2009 from Northeast Guilford - his brother was minor league pitcher of the year for Chicago Cubs and he made 40 man roster this spring - Taylor has been a late bloomer - he has a ton of potential and frame to match 6'3 190 - email me for contact info or playing references.

Coach- I'm going to make you do a little work, but I believe it will be worth your time.

There was a young man, lhp & OF, that I saw a couple of years ago at a tournament. He plays for West Charlotte and he clearly was the class of his team. I admired the fact that his team was not very good, but the kid was a competitor and a heckuva athlete. I spent a few minutes with him after the game, and he left an incredible impression on me. The kid has a ton of character.

I knew he played football for a powerhouse HS team, so I was afraid he was going to leave the game for that.......speed up to this past summer. I was attending a popular baseball facility in Charlotte, Grand Slam---and there the kid was; working at Grand Slam and working out. Dang, the kid has the body of Zeus and I recall he had a plus arm. After speaking to hin for awhile, he told me he wants to play baseball in college. He liked football, but baseball was his passion.

I have looked everywhere for a West Charlotte roster and have yet to find one. But I bet the members that post here that have competed against West Charlotte know who I'm talking about.

But there it is.......the kid is worth finding if he hasn't already signed. He is a Diamond in the rough that won't take a lot of polishing.

By the way, send our TBR regards out to Cyril Daniels---what a great young man.

Andy Capone LHP Sun Valley HS.

Very strong kid, was QB for football team, didn't convince himself he wanted to play baseball until this spring. Hasn't had the opportunity that fits him just yet. Excellent grades, superb young man.

College Coach looking for Diamond in the Rough

College Coach, you might want to contact the Charlotte Christian coach. He has a player, Pookie Caldwell, who couldn't pitch this year due to Tommy John surgery in August 2008. He is a great competitor, was getting 86-88 velocity on his fastball before surgery, and is making a remarkable comeback. Has older brothers pitching D1, so he knows his stuff. Caldwell is worth looking at.

Paul McIntosh. JH Rose senior. Got the win in the deciding game of the 4A state championship last season. He is VERY smart and has an very very high SAT. Tremendous off speed stuff. Great kid and deserves a shot at the next level.

    mcintosh

the mcintosh kid is legit. he doesn't light up the gun, but he doesn't miss spots either. pitches to both sides of the dish. doesn't get up above the knees. if the man gives him a wide zone he is almost unhittable.

good change. pretty good breaking ball. good command of both. competes.

    Some of the best

    unsigned 09's I have seen.

Matt Batts LHP Mt Tabor HS , I had him 85-87 with very good command. His CB in the 69 mph range and again very good command of a sweeping breaking pitch.

Paul McIntosh RHP Greenville Rose HS , He is an upper 70's guy that paints with four pitches. I know he doesnt throw hard. All he does it continue to get good hitters out and win.

The Dieters twins at Rose. Call RV and ask him about the 6'6 LHP. Mid 80's very athletic throws strikes. His brother the RHP is very good as well.

Mitchell Frazier RHP Oxford Webb HS. I had him 84-86 touching 87. Tall kid very lean and athletic build. Very projectable guy at the next level.

The best unsigned 09 pitcher I have seen all year so far is Batts.
