Lake Norman visits Mooresville tonight for MHS Senior Night. Lake Norman has wrapped up the NPC conference championship but I'm sure will bring out the guns to sweep Mooresville for the year. This game tonight will be a great game between 2 teams that should go deep in 3A playoffs. MHS 7:00pm.

    Patton 4
    Fred T. Foard 3

Patton was down 3-0 early. The was down 3-1 in the botton of the 6th when Trevor Tallent Hit a 2 Run Shot to tie the game.Foard threathen in the top of the 7th with 2 runners on with 1 out.Tallent then came in to stop any threat.Aaron Attaway got a hit with two outs followed by a hit by Matt Baker.Dykota spiess then for the 2nd time in less then a week hits a game winning double off the wall to score Attaway.

Last report of the year on my Imps...

    Apex - 5
    Cary - 4
    8 innings

    WP - Harrell
    LP - Foshee

    HR - Evans (Cary)

Cary hitters: McKinney 2-4, Carr 2-4

    Don't remember Apex stats

Apex wins on a walk off shot down the left field line that lands in the corner, runner from 2nd scores. Looked foul but blue calls it fair... Apex wins.

Cary finishes 6-18 on the year and 3-11 in the Tri-8. 13 of Cary's 18 losses were by 3 or less runs... 9 of which were by 2 or less.

Record does not show the true story. Sad send off to seven Cary seniors to go down to their rival in that fashion.

    Cary tough loss

Sorry JM15, this loss was all my fault. I arrived to root for Cary - would give GH #1 seed, and as I'm walking in from the parking lot, I see the scoreboard, 2 outs, bottom of 6th, Cary up 3-1, and a high routine fly ball is hit to the infield. It looks good for Cary, up 2 runs with only 1 inning left to go.

But as I officially enter the stadium, the Cary 1B drops the popup, scoring a run, now 3-2, runners at the corners, 2 outs - No problem, Cary still ahead. Then runner from 1st, leaves early to steal 2nd, either to get in rundown or cause a balk - they get the balk. Ok, not as good, but still score is tied 3-3, runner on 2nd, 2 outs, anyone's game. A routine grounder hit to 2nd, fielded cleanly, but the throw to first in dirt, but scooped by 1B, looked out to me, but first baseman stumbled and may have juggled the ball. Back to 1st and 3rd, 2 outs, and we get the same early steal attempt of 2nd, this time no balk, but we get the rundown where the runner from 3rd scores before the rundown out, Apex up 4-3 after 6 innings.

Well I figure this game is over, but Cary ties it in the 7th, and actually had a bigger threat going, 1st and 2nd with only 1 out, but a lined shot went directly to SS who doubled up the runner caught off second.

In the 8th, Apex is threatening with runners on 1st and 2nd and only 1 out, the ball is ripped down the left field line, hits the left field wall 3.5 feet high, and 3.5 feet left of the foul pole. I sat there patiently waiting for someone dressed in blue to call foul, as runners and players are dashing all over the place. All 3 Cary outfielders, 3B, and SS pointed to the spot on the wall where the ball hit, but to no avail.

Cary must have played a pretty good game BEFORE I got there, but it was frustrating to watch AFTER I got there, especially in the 6th. Apex may have scored in the 8th anyhow, but there was no way that the ball that hit the fence was even close to being fair - tough way to end the season.
