4A East - Round 3 Predictions

Braves, or anyone... You got the West.

Laney @ Rose -- RV's the man and I've said all along why don't we just fast-forward to a Rose-Providence final. Wilmington baseball on the top half of the east bracket and Raleigh baseball on the bottom half. Rose comes out on top, just too much tradition this late in the game. Rose expects to be in the final, they don't hope.

Hoggard @ Scotland -- Haven't seen either of these teams play this spring but we saw Richmond and that team could play. So I'm gonna go with Scotland in this one at home.

Apex @ Millbrook -- Apex in the upset. I like Millbrook a lot but I think Apex finds a way to pull it out. They are a rowdy bunch who don't back down. Harris should be on the mound for the 'Brook but I think Apex finds a way to advance.

Sanderson @ Broughton -- Sorry piratefan, but I gotta do it again so maybe ya'll prove me wrong again. The Caps are playing for Coach Comis and they are at the friendly confines of Wiley Warren Field. Broughton in a low-scoring contest. Zeblo with a key HR.

 

That Apex is still playing is amazing...my hat's off to those kids for hanging in there through some trying times.

Sanderson @ Broughton - CAP 7

Broughton should be the favorite on paper because (1) they are playing at home with the home crowd but don't be surprised if the Spartan student body shows up big, (2) Broughton has beaten Sanderson five in a row but all the games have been close, (3) Broughton is the #2 seed from the competitive CAP 7 while Sanderson is #3, and (4) Broughton has three D1 players (Brown, Zeblo and Kline) vs one for Sanderson (Wigmore).

Only a die hard Spartan would believe differently. It should be a great game and lets see what happens.

That is why they say -- play ball.

FYI -- the CAP 7 has three teams still playing; #1 Millbrook, #2 Broughton and #3 Sanderson, in the Elite 8 of the 4A East. The most of any conference in the East and tied with the Southwestern conference in the 4A West.

Tanner Merritt goes for Rose. I am not sure about Laney. I will let you know in a couple of hours after the game.

My prediction for the Rose-Laney game: Laney is going to be tough as heck to beat. Diesel or I will give a report after the game.
