    John Wooten of Eastern Wayne

Once again, John Wooten comes through for the Warriors! In the bottom of the 5th tonight, with Eastern Wayne trailing Northern Nash 5-0, Wooten hits a grand slam & just like that, the Warriors are right back in this game. I don't have alot of hitting details, but Eastern Wayne got another home run in the bottom of the 7th, to tie the game 5-5, & later got back-to-back doubles to win it! Clutch Hitting!:cheers2:

Rose cuts Sandersons lead to 1. Next batter Preston Mobley takes a first pitch fastball Badonkadonkadog scoring 3 runs to put Rose ahead in the 5th. Jason Sugg goes yard in the 6th to finish it off.

(Hats off to Wooten for being the burro for EW. That boy is pack muling his way to fame and fortune and a shot at a state title...lol)

Patton's Home Run Hitters Picking It Up in Playoffs

Burke County's 2A power Patton has been using combo of pitching and power to go 5-0 in State Playoffs. Panthers won first game of best of three Western 2A Finals with 12-5 thumping of Mount Pleasant in Morganton on Thursday night. Patton knocked four out of the park, with three long balls coming in 10 run third inning. Junior catcher Chris Fine hit a solo blast and a grand slam in the third. Junior Trevor Tallent added two run shot as part of 10 run rally. Patton was down 4-1 after Mt. Pleasant put 3 runs on the board in the second, and was ahead 11-4 after third at bat. Junior Aaron Attaway ( CVAC POY ) hit the first pitch thrown to him out in the bottom of the first. Patton is up 1-0 in series, with game 2 scheduled at Mt. Pleasant Friday at 7 PM. Panthers have hit 15 homeruns in 5 playoff games.
Nick Newton shut out Hibriten on two hits on Tuesday 5-0, while Ryan Grady got the win tonight. Patton looking for Western 2A crown and maybe more in their second year of existence.
