My point was many of these players were first mentioned on TBR when they played for Morganton, but: have no worries

~note to self~ let others talk about Patton. I'll leave them alone

I am glad it wasn't just me in the negative view of the umpires. I know they have a thankless job but the floating strike zone sure was frustrating to the pitchers and hitters. When Chase McDonald gets called out on strikes to end game 2 on a pitch six inches above his ankles, you know there is a problem. I guess you could say the umps were consistent behind the plate and in the field, consistently bad for both teams. However the reason Rose lost was not the umpires, it was the play of a group of deserving kids from Raleigh Sanderson.

    Roll On Sanderson!

Congratulations to Sanderson. Your friends in the Cap 7 and the Raleigh area are excited about your march to the Finals. The colleges that added your players to their rosters before you started this run are smiling today.

Western 1-A: South Stanly wins series over Cherryville 2-0.

Don't know who won the East. Topsail was in the Eastern final, but I do not know who they were playing.

    S. Stanly win play the winner of that series for the State Championship.

Coach RV will have that team ready to go again next year. It really doesn't matter what anyone thinks Rose has coming back or up- they will be good again.

I've been in eastern NC all my life and Rose just seems to reload, they replace good players whose name we know with good players whose name we don't know yet.

I do know that the rising Sr and Jr class at Rose as 14/15 made it to the SE Regional Babe Ruth allstars and I believe to the World Series so they have talented players who have played together since little league and know how to win.

Sanderson's Sam Beavans and Daniel Adams

The right fielder is Sr Sam Beavans. We saw the video last night and Sam was jumping and had his right hand on the fence with his glove is his left hand extended as far up as he could get it. His eyes were totally focused on the ball into his mitt. I also feel that was the defensive play of the game.

The Sanderson baserunner was Sr. LF Travis Trumps (who had a great series) and the runner was amazing freshman 3B Daniel Adams (who no longer plays like a freshman) walked home. Executed to perfection to put Sanderson up 2-1 in the top of the 4th.

Kudos back to Rose as a class team. Let me give you a perfect example of why I (Max Gagnon's dad) have the upmost respect for Rose's progam and more importantly the players.

Max told me this morning that while the Sanderson players were sitting on their bus for the ride home Rose C Patrick Roy (who I enjoy watching him bust his a!! behind the plate every game and probably saved Rose a few extra bases or worst few more runs by Sanderson with his play), walked up to the bus with another unknown Rose player. Patrick showed our kids his 2008 State Championship ring and told our boys to get another ring for the east and wished Sanderson good luck!

    What a classy move.

    Proud of Patton's Accomplishments

To Braves; I did not mean to offend you about my statement concerning Morganton's LL All star team; I was making the point that these kids started out in LL together and have worked hard to the next level. This can be inspiration and endorsement of City/ County rec league teams that hang in there and grow up together--Morganton has a strong little league program and this 2004 team has grown up to the next level and are playing in state championships....I am glad they have been noticed, they are a great group of kids, plus they have two senior leaders that were a year too old to be on the 2004 Southeast champion team....do not let my words take away from the credit they deserve...I have no kid on the team, but have watched them this year, and will follow their progress in Raleigh....

Patton is a great group of kids. They have worked hard and are very deserving of the title. This is actually Coach Brandon Scott's third year as a head coach as he coached this same group at Freedom HS as an interim Head Coach, after the coach resigned in 2007. Of that group,Tallent, Lawson, Attaway, Speiss, Fines, started as freshmen. Fines and Spiess made ALL Conference NW4A in 07. Washington was a Soph and started in CF while Newton saw meaningful action as well.
Coach Scott did a terrific job that year and it appeared Freedom was finally going to have a baseball program. But the new school came on line and the rest is history
Last season at Patton, as Soph's and Jrs, they competed and made the playoffs but were still very young. This year they have broken through and they will be tough again next year as Senoirs and Nick Chapman will be a Jr.

My point is this, It is not a 2 year program. The school may be 2 years old but this group of players commited themselves to excellence prior to enrolling at Freedom in 2007 and before ground was ever broken at Patton.
They have met and exceeded the huge expectations that were made because of their early success and are poised for greatness.
Best of Luck to all the Panthers this weekend
