or do other people have an uneasy feeling about all the smiling and laughing of some players and teams in the WCWS this year? I know the teams and players are attempting to put on a happy face for the cameras, but dang it is hard to stomach at times...nobody is that happy! I am not going to call any names, but one team stands out. They laugh and joke even when they are getting their asses kicked. They strike out and laugh back to the dugout. They make errors and laugh. The pitcher gets smacked around and laughs. The pitcher is getting her ass kicked and strikes someone out and does some BS motions and antics. I am not saying they should hang their heads or anything like that, but a "game face" or a little more seriousness is not a bad thing. I believe this is players saying "look at me".."I'm happy".."I am the happiest person out here". No doubt the players are attempting to bring attention to themselves with this stuff. I know this post may catch a little "H", but I am about to throw up and am glad that one particular team is going home...I couldn't stomach another 2 days of it!!

    Is It Just Me

I agree. I think they were making a joke out of the wcws. I am glad they are gone. They laugh when they strikeout, when they make errors, trailing in runs and even illegal pitches. What is the deal with the team meeting in the circle after every batter. I wonder if they are still laughing on their way home. The umpires totally have sucked in this wcws. They have made bad calls in the field and behind the plate. What's up with the illegal pitching, she is either illegal or not. They called it some but not near enough. The pitcher never made any adjustments to correct her style except to laugh about it. Glad they went home. I think the national POY should not be picked till after wcws. Lawhrie has been roughed up pretty bad. I believe nelson is a little better.

    back to the subject

I found myself thinking the same thing. I know it's got to be fun, but where's the game faces?

    I just figure it's a girl thing????

and yes that Ga. team is annoying, especially that SS that has to chat with and slap the pitcher after nearly every pitch.

    What

What rule says girls can't have fun and win as well? Georgia actually played pretty well even though they were given no chance to win a game. The SS obviously is a leader and truly loves the game and life so give it a break.

Before you smash me, I am not a Ga fan or a real fan of any of the teams but I truly love watching high quality softball and there was a great deal played this past week at Nationals. The SEC is awfully tough and has some high quality coaching and will give the Pac 10 all it wants for years to come.

Also, was good to see some players, I knew and coached against over the years!:cool3:

I agree-I really enjoyed watching the Georgia team play-they were just happy to be there.
They may have seemed less serious than some other teams, but they got the job done when it counted.

....hey I've gotta lean towards ChaCha on this one, at least a little bit. By a little bit, I'll clarify by saying this......I actually enjoy how pumped up the Ga. girls get during the game. I saw them last year at UNC and the 2B was the ring leader then.
Can that type of antics get on folks nerves? Well obviously they can.
I hear what ChaCha is saying, I also don't think that UGA is making a mockery of the game. There have been MANY characters in sports that we would watch just to see if their antics ended up in a train wreck. And everyone of these players were entertaining and very talented.
Mark " the bird " Fiedrich
    Dennis Rodman
    Manny
    Deion Sanders
    Joe Namath
    Chi Chi Rodriguez
    John McEnroe

    Etc.

I don't mind the antics of professional players...some of it is very entertaining. Billy "White Shoes" Johnson's dance, the "Ickey Shuffle" and others were fun to watch to me, but I have never seen a college player do that kind of stuff. Now if one of the WCWS kids would have guaranteed victory as Joe Namath did I would not have had a problem with that either, but the incessant and forced smiling and laughing even when you are losing and making bad plays just doesn't seem natural.

    Get mad and show it!

I want to see some of them get mad when they make a mistake/error. They don't need to stay mad but I want to see some kind of acknowledgement that they made a mistake and realized it. The way they were all carrying on made it seem like oh well, made an error, no big deal when you know that it is tearing most of them up inside.

As for the SS, if I was the pitcher, I would let her know to stop doing that after every pitch. Pitchers need to stay foccused not be bothered by someone coming up and saying something after every pitch.
