That is what I was trying to say better batter. They could have planned better and worked it out for all parties involved with the money hardships facing everyone right now.

I was wondering how long before someone spouted off!

It actually took a few more days for that to happen than I anticipated.
My seniors were set to come play ball. Skipping one of the most important days in their lives. One of my kids is #4 in her class and has to speak during the ceremonies. We were trying to figure out a way to tape her or stream it back.
The situation was discussed at length with the NCHSAA and the principal at WS. The decision was made to have them attend their graduation. They have worked 12 years for that right.
It is an inconvienence that I wish we didn't all have to deal with but the fact remains, their graduation is Saturday at 2pm. They will have to go home Friday night and bust it back to Raleigh after graduation.
I think it's great that the NCHSAA is working it out but they are going to be tired from all the riding. A disadvantage to my team I suspect.
There is a bigger problem brewing though. The HS calendar year keeps creeping further into June. It is going to be an issue every year unless they figure out a way to play it in May. I hope that they will begin to look at that for the future.
Gatorback, Sorry for the trouble that this situation may cause you and yours.

Our graduation was on the 13th like everyone else, but our fine school board moved it! And yes, we put up a fight! That is not the girls fault. Oh, and by the way MY DAUGHTER WAS GOING TO PLAY BALL INSTEAD OF WALK! The state is the one that worked this out for the girls, plus we have one of girls that is speaking at graduation. She was 4th in the class and she deserves to speak. I knew someone would complain about this!

Thanks card coach for getting the facts out in the open maybe a quick post when it came out explaining your hardship may have prevented my post. You are a class act just needed to express my opinion on the matter. Best of luck this weekend.:N1oldschool:

    Can't hold my tongue...

I have tried and tried... but I am weak... but I personally think its funny (ok, maybe not funny... but lets say, interesting) that this problem happened to West Stokes... but hey, it may not even be a problem... unless rain forces the teams to play Saturday... West Stokes VERY well could be the first team out and go home Friday night... happened last year....
and I'm glad that they finally had to face hardships... because I think of ALL the times that (by the work of the NCHSAA gods... some how) they have had to do NO traveling (to speak of) during the last 3 years of playoffs... they are considered in the EAST... NO WAY... teams have to travel up to 3 hours or more to play them AT THEIR place... and sometimes on school nights... I say its just Karma....
I feel slightly bad for the girls... but not the rest of the people there....
    jmo

I promise that I will try and make this my one and only negative comment for the rest of the season...

    It's nice to know!

That there are those folks who think we would have that kind of power to get my team playing at home. I appreciate the confidence in me and my ability. Now if I can just convince the rest of the softball world!
I have heard that very same comment at least one other time in the last week. I would assume you have some connection to one of our wins??? Sour grapes maybe???
Please call and maybe we can discuss. Most all my softball friends know I will discuss issues, positive or negative, with anyone.

With all the talk of budget cuts, you will be happy to hear that they are considering allowing ONLY home games. No more AWAY games for ANYONE!

    ORIGINAL SCHEDULE

    Was moved.
    Now is not.

    Back to original schedule.

Weather will probably change it all anyway.

The state gives priority seeds to conferences, not teams. We have worked our butts off the last few years to get a No. 1 seed from our conference so we could play home playoff games. We just play our schedule and let things work out in the end.

All I'm going to say is maybe karma did happen, just the way it should have.

And yea, we left after the first day last year, and maybe we leave again first this year, but at least we are there and you are not! And don’t feel bad for our girls, they are having a blast! Want have to worry about us next year, we are in the WEST, where real softball is played!
