    More Rain

Mooresville Post 66 got its squad together first the first time Tuesday. Played Wed. was again rained out. To my knowledge, they have only played five league games(3-2) at the so called half way point. All cancelations have been weather related. That includes the last two nights, both against South Rowan. Maybe a lot of DHers.

    LKN,

We were rained out Tuesday night, looked at the schedule already crammed and said DH at your place. And there is still alot of ball to be played. Right now we have 3 league games to make-up and cancelled 4 NL games

    Rowan suffers first league loss

    Concord 6
    Rowan County 5

    12 innings

Rowan loses on a thowing error in the bottom of the twelfth to score the winning run for Post 51. Rowan trailed 5-2 in the top of the ninth but rallied to score three runs to even the score. Matt Miller hit a solo homer to make it 5-3, then Trey Holmes doubled to deep left to tie the game. Credit to Concord and their starting pitcher (threw about 138 pitches). Rowan never got into an offensive rhythm tonight. Missing regular outfielders Russell Michalec (graduation) and Jon Crucitti (football camp) didn't help. Good game tonight though, went to almost midnight before Concord won it. Preston Troutman pitched three innings of outstanding baseball. Rowan battled and just came out on the short end. Rowan will be on the road again Saturday night at Mocksville.

    Mocksville 2
    Rowan County 1

    WP: Jake Koontz
    LP: Cody Laws

Rowan drops second straight league decision at Rich Park tonight. Jake Koontz (08 West Rowan grad) pitched a complete game and threw well over 130 pitches in his effort for Mocksville. Rowan starter Cody Laws threw well surrendering a solo homerun to Clint Howell that made the real difference. Rowan squandered many opportunities particularly in the first inning when they got the first two on when Zach Smith grounded into a double play. Corbin Shive pitched very well in relief for Rowan holding the Mocksville bats at bay and keeping Post 342 in the game. Rowan got a runner to second base in the ninth but popped up to the catcher to end the game. Rowan falls to 5-2 in Area III Southern Division play and steps out of league for two games starting Sunday night at home against Denver.

Rowan really has to get their bats going and I think once they get into a groove of playing every day or so, that will help get the offense going. Too many rain outs and cancellations to get into a rhythm.

    Back in the win column

    Rowan County 17
    Denver 0

    7 innings

    WP: Forrest Buchanan (5 IP 1 H)

Rowan gets back in the win column Sunday night as they clobber the visitors from Denver. Forrest Buchanan started and went five surrendering only one hit. Corbin Shive hit a grand slam and a two-run homer to lead the offense, which had been scuffling coming into the game. Rowan also turned two double plays in back of those seventeen runs. Rowan is at Eastern Randolph Monday night.
