As most of you know by now, Coach J has lost his job at CMS (due to the cut backs) and is no longer the Varsity Baseball Coach at South Meck. Just wondering who might be some of the leading candidates for the job? I would like to see Mike Edwards (Butler HS JV coach) get a shot!

    Coach Spencer

I have seen on here where the parents are trying to save Coach Spencer's position at Myers Park, have you thought about getting the parents together to help out Coach J and keep the staff together?

    Other Districts?

Are other School systems having the same issues with funding as Char-Meck, or are we just the absolute best at mis-management?

The number of schools is growing, classrooms are getting larger, and we are cutting important front line staff. (Not just coaches)

Againg we have a situation of too many chiefs and not enough indians!

Yes, every area in the state is suffering the same setbacks. Except for the coaches that have tenure, most are very scared and concerned about their future.

You could point to so may reasons why we're in this position and every reason would be correct...it's what I would call a Perfect Storm. The end results may become unbelievably disastrous.

From what we have been told, ...... with the short amount of time both individuals have within the CMS system, it would be a lost cause. Unfortunate for both, but what can you do! We were also told that the next Coach will be a teacher within South Meck, not someone that teaches at another school. That is, unless they transfer to SM!

I know I suggested that folks contact the school board when there was a discussion about keeping middle school sports, and as I understand it, that program is safe. I just can't help but wonder had we known how deep the cuts would be (i.e., HS coaches), would we have had second thoughts or different priorities?

Bottom line here... Coaches who have stable positions are not in a position to move unless it is within a school system. In this day and age you cannot afford to give up tenure to make a lateral move, or in many cases to take a step up. The teaching job is the bigger paycheck.

Good point, coachevans26. Statewide, you will not see many moves based solely on the coaching opportunity.
