    Rats lose a close one...

The CBC Diamond Rats 2011 dropped a close one this morning to the Palm Beach County Grays by a score of 4-3. After pounding out 15 hits yesterday, they only managed 5 today. Hunter Conley (Hopewell) pitched very well and scattered 7 singles (a couple of little floaters just beyond the infielders) and took the tough luck loss. The only hard hit ball he surrendered was tracked down in deep center by Brett Cash for a long out. Justin Hammond (Hopewell) pitched a strong 7th to keep it close.

    Palm Beach County Grays............4...8...2
    CBC Diamond Rats......................3...5...1

    Leading Hitters:

Matt Rembielak 2-4, RBI (Bishop McGuiness)
Ryan Yoder 1-2, RBI (Central Cabarrus)

2-2 record, play tomorrow at 8:00 am

    Rats go to 3-2

The 2011 CBC Diamond Rats won an exciting game this morning 5-3 against the high profile All American Prospects Blue from Miami. William Frazier (Charlotte Country Day) pitched very well and picked up the win, going 5 2/3 innings, with 9 strikeouts and scattering 6 singles, while keeping the Prospects off-balance with a good mixture of pitches. Brandon Loren (Marvin Ridge) came in relief in the sixth and got the last out on one pitch to get the Rats out of a jam. Loren finished them off in the 7th with three flyouts to end the game. Tyler Byrnes (2012 Olympic) delivered a two-out triple to plate two runs early and LJ Newman (Wren HS) had a run-scoring double to add an insurance run late.

    All American Prospects Blue.................3....6.....1
    CBC Diamond Rats.............................5....5.....1
