Mooresville 7

Rowan trails early 7-1 only to rally for the huge win to improve to 7-2 in the Area III South. Rowan starter Corbin Shive was knocked out of the game after giving up six runs with two outs in the 3rd. Moors starter Nick Lomoscola was cruising along and lost it in the 6th (could be wrong about that inning). Rowan was still without Jon "Johnny Hustle" Crucitti and Preston Troutman (state games). Huge win for the Rowan boys of summer. Rowan is off Saturday before traveling to Stanly County Sunday night.

HR: Corbin Shive, Zach Smith

Smith also hit a big two-run single to give Rowan the lead.

Stanly County 10
Rowan County 8

Rowan blows an 8-1 lead surrendering nine unanswered runs to Stanly. With two outs in the 7th inning and Rowan leading 8-5, a sharp grounder to Trey Holmes at first base takes a crazy hop (I think it hit some kind of rut) and skips into right field allowing a run to score from third and the inning to continue, and did it ever continue. Before the inning was complete, Stanly had tied and the game and taken the lead and ALL the momentum away from Rowan. Rowan had done to them what they did to Mooresville Friday night. Rowan has to find a way to play with more passion on the road like they do at home. Rowan is very tough to beat at Newman Park with their several hundred fans behind them and playing in their comfort zone, but great teams have to win on the road consistently in the playoffs. Rowan is 4-3 on the road in league games and 3-0 at home. Rowan returns to action back at the friendly confines of Newman Monday night to face Kannapolis.

Corbin Shive hit his sixth homer.
Rowan falls to 7-3 in Area III Southern Division play.
Rowan is tied with neighbor South Rowan in division play. South visits Newman Park Tuesday.
