The Lady Lightning Gold Team Miken ladies had another strong performance this weekend, finishing 7th out of 93 teams at the ASA 18U Gold Southern Territorial qualifier in Tulsa, OK.

Combined with last weekend's strong performance at the JO Classic in Las Vegas, the ladies have done a great job representing Carolina softball with a 10-3 record against Gold teams from Texas(6), California(4), Georgia(1), Oklahoma(1) and Tennessee(1).

Great job ladies/coaches and continued success!

Interesting that the Lady Lightning roster shows Mickey Williams as a member of the team. Is she playing for 2 different teams this year?? She is also listed on the Charlotte Cobras roster, and I have seen her playing for the Cobras in two different tournaments in person, on the same weekend that the Lightning were playing.

    Roster

The roster needs to be updated. Mickey does not play with the Lightning in 2009.

    Qualified?

Has this team qualified for the ASA gold nationals? What kind of costs are involved with playing gold for the players families?

    Costs - Worth it!!

Gold travel ball is not for everyone so the cost involved for those who wish to do it is worth it completely. It is a personal decision. We have had tons of terrible disputes over cost of Gold ball and is it worth it on this forum so don't want to go back there again.

Lets stay with the main thing -- Way to go Lightning. Keep representing us well!

    Lightning

Thanks HitItHard, that's the point of the thread. Recognizing the ladies accomplishments.

Homer3, the Lightning haven't qualified yet. Tulsa was our first qualifier. The top 6 places earned spots in the Nationals. We finished 7th. Frustrating, but the girls played great and have been turning a lot of heads over the last two weeks with their performances. If you'd like my views on Gold, feel free to PM me.
