    Rowan @ Mooresville

    Rowan County 19
    Mooresville 6

    7 innings

For three straight nights in a row, Rowan has sent the fans home early, this night was no exception as Post 342 moved to 11-3 in Area III South play with a lopsided victory at Mooresville. Post 66 jumped on Rowan starter Cody Laws for two runs and a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Preston Troutman tied the score with a two-run homer (his first career legion homer) and Zach Smith gave Rowan a 5-2 lead with his fifth homer of the legion season. The Moors got as close as 6-3, but could not quiet the Rowan bats. Rowan finished the contest with 15 hits. Trey Holmes and Casey Little also homered for RC. Brantley Horton had two hits for Mooresville.

Rowan has outscored its last 4 opponents 69-16 all in 7 inning games. They are averaging 2.5 runs per inning, in this stretch, against good competition. The scary thing is, they can play a lot better on defense than what they are showing at this point and the pitching can be better as well. If they start clicking on all cylinders, they are going to be a tough out.

It's pretty impressive the way they've been scoring runs lately, if they can get that defense in order and stop making some of the errors they've made lately, they are going to be really tough to beat in the playoffs. Clinched the # 1 spot for the upcoming playoffs thanks to Stanly's win over South Rowan last night.

Western Forsyth score 50 runs in 3 days earlier this week, but like you guys we gave up a bunch also. Lot's of errors. I think we are on a long stretch of consecutive games which HS kids aren't used to and they are tired. Some games we catch the 4th or 5th pitcher in rotation and in turn we are also throwing our 4th and 5th pitcher which makes for a lot of runs. We are on eight straight days (with a Doubleheader last night) and still have tonight, Saturday, Doubleheader on Sunday & Monday yet to play.

    The season grinds on!

But it is real baseball and you have to love it to play it.

South Rowan beat Mooresville 19-15 in game 1 at South today. They're playing the nightcap right now at Mooresville. I have no other details of the first game.
