Game 2 Garner Post 232 at Raleigh Post 297
    Series tied 1-1

DOUBLE CHECK THIS. I have been told that Garner protested the fact that a single player from Raleigh 297 did not have a patch on and was awarded the victory after losing 6-3 on Tuesday night.

    Protesting because of a patch?

Wouldn't that be a little petty to protest a game because of a patch? Come on!:twocents:

Patches are pretty important to those who served our country.

I know that JM. I'm not downgrading the importance of a patch. Every organization has patches that are important, but when the game is played & your team has lost, is this what you feel you need to do:protest? Was it an intentional act or a mistake on the team's part? Do you feel a protest is in order to wipe out the results of a 9-inning game that may have taken 3 hours because of an un-intentional mistake that wasn't caught by this team. I'm sure they didn't do this on purpose. Maybe this Post should be reminded about the rule & reprimanded, but not made to forfeit the game. I'm sure the players want to win the series on the field, not by technicality.

karl, I understand where you are coming from but it all changes once the playoffs come. You can do whatever you want until it gets down to business, then all rules need to be followed. Just like once you get to the State Tourney, if one of the commissioners sees you move/flinch during that national anthem, you can forget playing that game. Just the way it is.

    Hey, rules are rules!

It's a good-looking patch! It makes the uniform!
Team officials need to be more careful.

    Patch Ruling

Just so we can put this issue to bed...Here is a statement from the Area 1 comissioner concerning patches.

"Prior to taking the field make sure players are fully equipped. This includes a Legion Patch. It is the umpires responsibility to insure this. Penalty is that the player is removed from the game and may not re-enter. There is no other penalty involved. This is not an appealable offense."

Therefore I would understand this to not change the outcome of the 9 innning game played.

    FYI

Raleigh Post 297 had no one left on the bench. Removing the player from the game because of the patch would have left them with only 8 players which in turn would have caused a forfeit.

Garner Post 232 elected to let the game be played out, did not file a protest (that would have had to be done during the game), and as a courtesy reminded the coaching staff of Post 297 that the appropriate player needed a patch.

I think it was pretty classy on Post 232's part.
