In the 23U group, the Md. team did not roll into Raleigh so that left the Cardinals, Grand Slam, and the Alley Cats. All for all it went pretty good in my opinion.
Awesome plays by some of the best kids in the TBR family.
What is THE BEST is the Carolina Attitude team filled in the Md. spot in pool play and was hands down in the game start to finish.
Never did I see any of these kids with stars in their eyes. I saw them thinking, hell yeah, we can bring to you! And they did, They faced the OVC player of the year, A UNC pitcher, UNCW pitcher and UNCC pitcher and while in the field faced 2 from NCSU, 1 from Campbell, 1 from Coastal, 2 from UNCC and others. If my memory proves me right I think the score ended 3-0.
The college players were better in this game but only a tad, and I think 1 year in college, and the practice regimen, workout regimen, and pure talent they face will always give them an edge.
I know, I know, thats obvious right, well whats obvious to me and most likely everyone who watched the Attitude play us today is that they are STRONG!
Congrats to you ladies, the Fishman wishes ya'll the best!

The Carolina Curve had a very strong weekend finishing with a 7-1 record good for third place for the weekend out of 35 teams. We defeated the NC Dominators, NC Rockers, Cape Fear Purple, and Tigers in pool play before defeating the High Point Heat, Carolina Flames, Attitude McDowell in the bracket before losing the a tough hitting Sundevils team. The entire team contributed in every phase of the game, including Kendall Settlemyre (Fred T Foard) playing with a possible broken finger four the last four games going 13-23 offensively, also defensive great plays by Makenzie Barbor (Nations Ford, SC) Lindsey Brown (Central Cabarrus) SS/2B, Rebekah Reaves (Piedmont) 3B, Kayla Kindley (Central Cabarrus) 1B, and Taylor Fain (Central Cabarrus) running down everything in CF, we also had very strong pitching from Katie Carnes (Pageland, SC) and Mellena Helms (Central Cabarrus) only allowing 17 runs in 8 games while scoring 38, and as usually KC Shue (Concord) was a wall behind the plate even when getting bowled over and hanging on to make an awesome out in the last game on Sunday.

This was the first time for this event and I believe it was successful. If we can get more teams from the surrounding states such as Geogia and Florida more coaches will come to watch. If more coaches come then more NC teams will stay here to play instead of spending all the money to go to Denver. My hat is off to the Cardinals organization for attempting to make and event in Raleigh and NC that will rival the Sparkler and Fireworks in years to come. I believe we have already established the fact that we can play with the girls out west. We had an ASA 18U national champion a couple of years ago and last year we had a couple of teams do really well in the ASA nationals. If we can get strong teams from NC to stay home and also get some teams from the great softball states of Georgia, Alabama, and Florida to come here instead of Denver the sky is the limit.

Thank you from an Attitude Mom!

Thanks for your take on the game! After the first inning was over, things went really well. Team Grand Slam has a terrific group on their roster. I'm proud our 'Tudes held them to 3 runs.

    Great Effort

    Hey

As I commented after the game....the Attitude team performed with class and intensity... They should feel very good about their experience.

Take away the first inning, we might still be playing...

Best of luck to all those girls this summer

    Piedmont Storm 14/16U Harkey

After battling through four games on Sunday, the Piedmont Storm took the 16u East Coast Fireworks Championship! A dedicated and hard working team met up with the Carolina Attitude, which gave the storm their only lose for the weekend, again on Sunday and won 6 to 4 in a very hard fought battle til the end. Amazing pitching, hitting and determination won this one. Now on to the World Series "A" in TN. Good luck to everyone.
