The last paragraph sums it up nicely: "Our feeling is that as long as the Confederate flag is allowed to fly over state grounds, then no major college athletic events will be held in any city in South Carolina," Johnson said. "The lawmakers who are responsible for this are costing the state millions of dollars in revenue."

I would feel bad for Myrtle Beach but they do still have Black Biker Week, so they will be OK.

I can shed some light on this. The ACC office never wanted to go to Myrtle Beach. However Ron Wellman, Wake Forest AD drove this deal. He is a baseball man and is leaned on when it comes to baseball by the other AD's.

ACC was not crazy about MB primarily because of the flag issue and the biker week. Myrtle Beach is trying to do what it can to get rid of the biker week. The ACC had a stipulation that the tourney would be there as long as the flag issue was addressed. They had no major issue with the biker week. When SC still did not address the flag issue it gave the ACC the out it wanted without upseting Wellman. Have to keep in mind, the ACC works for the member schools, not the other way around. So they couldn't just run over Wellman.

Too bad with the economy as it would be a thrill to play in Fenway. Makes sense to have it in the middle of the conference. Maybe Football should take notice.

thanks for the explanation, but all that sounds like the situation was bungled. the whole ACC baseball tourn. thing seems strange.............Fenway yes then no then yes again then no again. OK we'll go to MB with it, then oops we forgot about the flag deal, so let's move it again........ what gives??

I can't believe the ACC ever thought they would get the State of SC to change their position on this issue. I appreciate the effort but I can't see how they felt they would change this. And I can't believe Wellman couldn't see this.
