Cary wins in bottom 9th, 17-16.

Percy Evans (Cary) hit 3 homeruns this evening. Got there late and heard there were several HRs but edp should have more.

Cary awaits Durham/N. Raleigh winner for Area I West Championship.

Cary was really lucky to win this game - they choked in this game, and only Percy Evans saved them.

Cary went up 7-0 in the 1st on HRs by Hunter Carr and Eric Brady to lead off the inning, then Percy Evans and Wyatt Medlin followed later in the inning. You would think with a 7-0 lead, Cary would play solid defense and win easily. But that's when Clayton decided that they weren't going away easily, and they crushed almost every ball they hit after that, all night long. And Cary played very poor defense, not only the obvious errors, but lazy, sloppy plays (bloop flies falling without any serious attempt to make a play, missing the cutoff, hitting the runner with the throw vs stepping 2 feet either way to get an angle for the throw, off balanced throws, etc.).

And I think even the Cary coaching staff made sereral mistakes in this game. The first was when Clayton narrowed the gap to 7-3, Cary had no one warming up in the bullpen, and rushed in the leftfielder without any warmups, and was hammered by Clayton, not pitching his normal good change-up, and gave up about 6 runs without getting an out, as Clayton took the lead 10-7 in the 3rd.

I think another mistake was in the 6th inning, the score tied 11-11, Cary had a runner on 1st, no outs and Percy Evans at the plate. To me, based on the score 11-11 after 5 1/2, both defenses a little shaky and both offenses ripping the ball, it figured that the final score was going to be about what it ended up 17-16. Evans had hit 2 HRs yesterday, had just hit 2 HRs today, and was the hottest hitter on the planet at that time. However, he was given the SAC BUNT sign and successfully bunted the runner to 2nd for the first out. This was followed by a groundout and strikeout, and the score remained tied. And 2 innings later, with Clayton now up 16-11, Evans blasted another bomb over the centerfield fence for his 5th HR in two days.

Cary won the game with 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th, it looked like Clayton ran out of pitching, several walks, and Clayton didn't play defense all that great either - a bases loaded single ended up scoring 3 as Clayton threw the ball into the dugout. Again Clayton had to intentionally load the bases with the winning run at 3rd and no outs, and this time Will Smith hit the walk off single to end the game.

    Cary wins the seris 3-0.

    Round 2

3 of 4 Series are Finished and it is now up to Wilson and Kinston to decide who will play Rocky Mt.

Durham will host Cary at Riverside on Sunday. The time has not been set.

Rocky Mt. will host the winner of the Wilson/Kinston series also on Sunday at Northern Nash.

What a night; I love game 3s: Edonton bashes three home runs all solo but a three run sho followed by a wind aised solo shot in the bottom of the 8th leads Rocky Mt to the 6 - 4 win.

We could go on about the 17 - 16 Cary win for hours but lets just say the baseball gods were smiling in Cary's direction. In the bottom of the ninth a major base running error that could have been a double play ended up with Cary scoring two runs to tie the game and a runner on third with no outs. After two intentional walks and with the infield and outfieild in Cary just slapped a singlr over the secondbaseman to score the winning run. Cary has hit 13 home runs in the past two days

Wilson and Kinston bith lit up the scoreboard with a total of 33 hits.

Durham however just took care of business against N Raleigh.

We are trying to get Ari 'invited walk-on' status at Duke. He has decided to go there no matter what and will try to make the team this fall.

Durham hit 4 homeruns to take the lead for good in the 5th, and wins the series 3-0. Scott Crane had a solid outing, giving up 4 runs in 7 innings.

We will host Cary at Riverside High School on Sunday at 5pm.

Cary/Durham should be a fun one. Cary's offense has been on fire lately and taking them to Riverside HS may be playing with fire. I'm sure Wanda will be there and be a strong factor for Post 7.

    Where's Limpy?

If only Limpy was coaching ...then Cary would surely get spanked in 3.:whoopass:
