i liked it better when they played 4 out of 7 to determine the state champion in a 4 out of 7 if you loss the first game you only need to win 4 out 6 but in a tournment if you loss the first game you have to win 6 games in a row. each team could play each team in there erea 1 game and set the teams 1 though 16 and resend the team after each round of the playoffs highest plays lowest send. when there is only 2 teams left in each erea, the highest send in erea 3 would play the lowest send in erea 4 and highest send in erea 4 would play the lowest send in erea 3 same thing in erea 2 and area 1.

While a best 0f 7 sounds nice, with the roster limit of 18, it is nearly impossible to have that much pitching to get through if you have consecutive 7 game series.
My last year playing legion ball (1994) we played 45 games that summer and were the Area 1 champs. We lost to Post 10 in 6 I believe. Right now my team has played 27 and I can't imagine having to play another 18 games to get to that same point in the playoffs from a pitching standpoint.

    State Legion Playoffs

I believe we have a good system except for the Host Team getting an automatic bid. This year Area I will only get one actual seed which means that three of the remaining excellent teams will not be able to play. I would put any four of the remaining Area I teams against the rest of the state.
Greenville will play in the tournament having won only 1 conference game. I realize this is not the team they thought they would have when they bid on the tournament. Usually this will mean a better gate for the sponsor but with no Legion ball in Greenville since June 28 I wonder.

I am a big proponent of a one site Tournament at a centrally located site. The problem with the current responsibilities of the tournament contract is the cost involved. It costs about $30,000 to put on the tournament following the guidelines in the contract. Raising this much for one year is hard enough but having to to it year after year would be quite a problem.

We could also go to a nine game format which would add an extra day.

The Legion is working on solutions.

Greenville sounds very simalar to Hi-Toms a couple of years ago when they hosted, not sure of number of wins but they finished last in conference play. I also agree with the format, just need to have a format with the host, plus top 2 teams from each region
