I hope everyone notes the scheduling changes in that article. If the series goes more than three games, Friday will be a day off, and the series would resume Saturday in Asheboro at 2 pm. This is due to the jr. legion state tourney.

Looking forward to the series. These two have met a lot in the past two years, but it was usually just to determine seeding for the state tournament. This time its to get to the state tourney. Players and fans are all familiar with most of the team's players. I always like watching games at McCrary even though my team hasn't had much luck there over the past couple of years. I hope all the Randolph people have a safe drive over to Salisbury for tonight's game.

Good Luck to Mooresville and Rowan

Good luck to Rowan Co and Mooresville. Mooresville probably wishes that they had Scottie Williams. I just wished that he would have sucked it up and played. This is the time for him to be seen.

    Rowan leads 1-0

    Rowan County 15
    Randolph County 5

    WP: Corbin Shive

Rowan trails Post 45 early 2-0 after the top of the first inning, but Rowan bats around in the bottom half scoring five runs to lead 5-2 and really never looked back. Russell Michalec hit two homeruns to lead the Rowan hit attack. Michalec also knocked in the two runs that sent the fans home a little early in the seventh. Hunter Ridge was 3-for-4 with a two-run shot off Rowan ace Corbin Shive that made it 12-4. Ridge came up again in the sixth with the bases loaded and one out, Ridge flew out to right fielder Zach Smith who promptly threw out the runner at the plate ending a Randolph threat. Jake Ozment started for Post 45 and took the loss. Billy Veal will get the start Wednesday for Rowan. I'm guessing either Steven Davis or Colton Baughman will throw for Randolph.

High Point made 8 errors in the field.

Connor Scarborough started for HP and threw well but the errors behind him hurt.

Ethan Ogburn came in for the final 5.2 innings and got the win in relief.

Lomascola (sp?), the ace for Lake Norman's state champion team this past spring, started for Mooresville and didn't have his best stuff. Gave up about 7 runs or so in about 5 innings. He's still a great pitcher though and Catawba will be lucky to have him.

Mooresville from what I've heard seems to be a team that hits real well but doesn't have tremendous pitching. I look for more high scoring games the rest of the series.

Game 2 is tomorrow night in Thomasville and David Coffey is on the mound for High Point

Mooresville hits the ball well 1-9, but after Lomascola, their #2 pitcher (Williams) is out with injury. It could very well be high scoring games rest of way in this series.

I don't know about high scoring games...High Point has a very good pitching staff and they are very deep in pitching. They can score some runs too as we saw last night. This series may get ugly for Mooresville if High Point's pitching and defense change their ways from last night.
