    Well

unless the rules were changed this year there has obviously been a huge mistake made. POY in each conference has been an automatic All State selection for several years now. So maybe there has just been an accidental omission of this young mans name from the list. By the way if he is not all state no one is , he is a terrific player.

Congrats to everyone that made All State and if Attaway did not make it then shame on the people that did not select him. And if he was POY in his conference and did not make it then someone needs to explain why the rule was changed.

Huge 3-A omission out west. Cody Geyer was the MAC player of the year AND western NC player of the year, and he didn't make all-state? Oh, I forgot that we're west of I-77!!

    Curious choices

The MECA7 selection is very curious as there are 4-5 boys that posted better stats on the mound and at the plate. Congrates to those that made it but I wouldn't say that this is the best NC has to offer by any stretch of the imagination.

There is one name that didn't appear that took me by surprise. Sean Pope, North Meck, is one of the premiere pitchers in our state. I congratulate all the players selected, but his omission took me by surprise.

For those players not selected, two things come to mind. As you move on to the college level, the awards you've obtained in HS mean diddlysquat and will be soon forgotten----but for those that were omitted tend to use that as a chip to help drive you at the next level. There is nothing wrong playing with a chip on your shoulder and proving other people wrong.

Won't disagree that Attaway should have been there. Don't know that much about Crump, as far as that is concerned, many other very good baseball players were left off the list in the conference and made an impact for their respective teams. Fine had a solid year and came up big in all the games we watch him play this year and his production was good, plus he lead his team in several categories. Christopher hit over .400 and lead his team in hits, ab, homeruns(tied in conference with Jacob Bradshaw-FTF), extra base hits, rbi's and pitching wins. This award may not mean anything going forward to anyone on the list, but the point was to congratulate these guys for making the list, everyone on it all-state list should be proud of this accomplishment. I guess the rest is up to us as fans to dispute, discuss and give our opinions on.

    omitted players

I really just don't know how Shane Basen from Marvin Ridge doesn't make this list....He was the POY in the SP3A conference, hit .566 with 29 SB's, and played the SS position as good or better than anyone in 3A.

Also left off Scott Shipman 10-1 ERA under 2.00 and Justin Setzer 10-0 with ERA around 1.50

I can understand one or two maybe being left off but definitely not all three.
