    Hope for the best

This seems like it could be a big deal for a prominent sports school in CMS. Some may already know the school but im not gonna throw names. Its come up in alot of conversations. This principal wanted nothing to do with MS sports and didnt give much support to any of the programs.. I can see how it may cause a program to suffer. Maybe the HS scenario will be different.

:apeani: Oh, no. You are not going to smoke me out, SEM. You are not going to get me to rant about the damages a principal can do in the hiring process of teachers/coaches. She has every right to hire those with little or no experience both in the classroom and on the field.

You are all hitting the nail on the head...so hopefully you get a principal that is supportive of the athletic programs...if not do what we did...get the principal involved as much as possible so they feel a part of the process (most are there for the love of the kids and this gives them an excellant opportunity to bond with the kids outside of the school day, as well as with the parents), when they cover an event (the principal and ap's have to cover the games), make a point (you parents listen up) to greet the principal, involve them in the conversation (that way they just don't show up and leave)...find out what motivates the principal...ours was academics, so we pushed getting academic recognition from the state for the teams that achieved this (great for the student athletes, parents and administration), etc.
And yes one putt they can move monies from one school account to another (hopefully not out of athletics) but they have no "legal" control over booster money...especially in guilford county where the boosters have to legally be their own entitity...i.e. work under their own tax id not the schools. But it would be great to involve the principal in the activities and get their opinions...bottom line pray you get a good supportive principle if not work to mold them into that good one...
